GoP's PizzaGaetz

Only when you claimed that I believed Trump was more conservative than the people he ran against. Again, you made the claim(regarding my belief).

Don’t worry. No one did.

This is what you said. Why you refuse to go to detail I’m not sure but you are dead set in keeping us glued to the edge of our seats.

As soon as someone wants to actually debate that point, I’ll explain. You don’t want to, because it easily fits inside your opinion on the subject. You are attempting to deflect because you feel as though you’ve dug yourself a hole you can’t get out of with this claim:

The arguments are supposedly easy to make, but you won’t make them. In 2015/16, Trump was a guy with zero political experience.

I’ve made them more than once. You want to play games as usual. You haven’t made an argument to the contrary yet and the closes

True which means all we had to go off was his history and his words. Which weren’t fiscally or socially conservative.

You just said no one was calling him fiscally conservative. I don’t remember the field he was against talking about deficits don’t matter, defaulting on the debt isn’t a big deal, and universal healthcare. These were not standard Republican positions in 2016.

Don’t know if Gaetz is guilty or not, but he must be some kind of freak

Gaetz has previously sparked controversy over repeatedly commenting on Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s appearance, calling the New York congresswoman ā€œattractiveā€ multiple times and once referring to her as the ā€œattractive lady from Queens.ā€

I think we may be witnessing a similar thing here. I’m not sure the GOP will cease to exist as a party, but I think a significant strain of Trumpism is going to infect it for a while. I believe things hang in the balance at the moment regarding the future direction of the party.

Anyway, back to the Gaetz debacle - personally I think things are looking pretty guilty for him. I won’t hang him yet or I’d be just as bad as the excuse makers… But it ain’t looking good. Worse to me though is the way his story has been picked up by some news media.

From what I’ve read seems like he would have been more into AOC about 14 years earlier.

I thought someone wasn’t going to get into this lol. Perhaps you’ve lost your sanity? Preserving sanity was your justification iirc.

I’ve not determined guilt myself, but his actions and words so far don’t make him look innocent.

I think for fiscal conservativeness, that one could argue that Hillary was more conservative. As far as living out traditional conservative values she is also probably more conservative (her not Bill, Bill and Trump are about equal in that regard).

Let me try and guess the ā€œGaetz Defenseā€:

ā€œFake news! It’s all a Witch Hunt perpetrated by Liz Cheney, the Democrats and the Deep State to smear me and my family; and to keep me from speaking on behalf of the American People! I will NOT be silenced!ā€

(How close am I?)

Traditional conservative values? I would say Bill and Donald are the epitome of traditional values. People mix up modern, religious (Evangelical specifically,) values with traditional values.

Lol. You’re not wrong. I refused to read that Twitter thread, but the Google algorithm keeps pushing news stories my way. Like an idiot I eventually started to skim through them .

Oh, definitely. They loved him (Trump) when he was dragging Bill’s accusers through the muck for the Clinton’s. Trump could be at home in either party.

That says more about the parties than Trump

The only problem with the title of this thread is that Pizzagate was a conspiracy theory with no basis in fact whereas the case against Gaetz appears to have legs.

Not even Trump or those in his close orbit are defending this guy:

ā€œNot a lot of people are surprised,ā€ said one person involved in Trump’s post-presidential operations."

Operatives inside Trump World say the silence is owed to a variety of factors. Among them is the fact that Gaetz has always been regarded as a grenade whose pin had already been pulled. The congressman had a reputation for a wild personal lifestyle that, associates say, occasionally bordered on reckless. Some of Gaetz’s own aides would regularly send embarrassing videos of their boss to other GOP operatives, according to two people familiar with the videos.

True… But it’s a funny play on words you have to admit.

On another note, what kind of moron do you have to be to be so careless that your staffers routinely send damning videos to other people?

Oh the thread title is great! I just wanted to note the difference between the conspiracy theory and what seems like a legit investigation.

Yeah this guy’s a moron on some level. Very Anthony Weinerish of him.
