That was me that just added you.
There should be a way to add yourself to universal circles, like big groups, and then you can find people you know from those groups. IE, a big TNation group and you only choose the people you like.
Bump on this… anyone know when G+ is opening to the public?

If they wait too long their buzz is going to die down. Pun intended. They have to jump on this while it’s still “cool” and a discussion point.

You could always make groups in facebook and limit what each group sees. I have a work group that has coworksers and clients. They can’t see my wall, any status updates, my religious or political prefferences, no pics my friends tag of me, and none of my photo albumns except a couple of my kids. Then i have a “family group” where i stick the most senior and junior levels of my family. It’s less restrictive but basically grandma, and my neices/nephews can’t see my status updates and select photo albums like of me funnelling beers in college etc.
Most people bitch about the dangers of facebook but don’t use any of these features. i don’t get it. If some clown tags me in a pic tomorrow where i am 19 years old and passed out on a toilet bowl covered in shaving cream… no one who i don’t want to see that would be able to.
Is the google+ circles features any better?[/quote]
You can do all that?

Yeah it is a lil bit of a hassle the first time you set up the groups. Then everytime you add a friend can click on the group to put them in. When you have groups set up, there is a dropdown when you add or accept a friend request.
- go to friends on left.
- click on the manage friends up top.
- click “create a list” up top.
- a pop up comes up where you can name list and select who goes in from your friends.
- repeat 3 and 4 to create all your lists.
- Now on your friend page you can see your lists or groups on the left and can filter by them.
Now that all your lists are set up you control who sees what in your privacy settings.
Go to privacy settings
- Select custom
- customize settings
- now go through every category and select who can see what. So for religious and political views for example… go to custom
- Then put in something like “friends only” and then in the minus field… people have seen this where you can block one person from seeing something but you can put in a list name here like “work”
- customize all the categories.
- Don’t forget about the photo albumns… on this page there is a seperate buttom "edit privacy settings for existing photo albums.
- now this is a lil bit of a pain but customize all your albums deciding who sees what.
- all this might take a while the first time. But after that its easy maintenence. every time you add a photo album you should select custom during the add process and check off who you don’t want to see the album. Also like i said, everyitme you accept a friend request there will be a dropdown to plop them into one of your groups.
Also whenever you do a status update next to “share” you can hit the padlock button and decide who sees that update. So you can send it only to your “T-Nation” list or whatever. So it seems that the circles thing is mostly taken right from facebook but they made it more intuitive and streamlined.

Or you drag and drop a picture into another picture.
I’ve gone around the typical issues with facebook by not listing any true information about myself. The only thing it has is my email address and my birthday, but not the year.
Everything else is made up.
This keeps my family from finding me, although sometimes people from work will find me but I deny them. It’s kind of awkward I guess, but I tell them that I refuse to have people I work with on there because facebook is private to me.
And being as I’m pretty much a degenerate, I want neither my family nor coworkers knowing how awful me and my friends actually are.
