Good Tattoo Quotes/Phrases

i get that you have one original idea…but why bother with the second piece if you are asking people what their version of cool is. if you have any plans of getting more ink down the road, you better think about proper placement.

although not horrible, IMO, i wish i had thought a bit more about a few of mine. but then again, there is no crystal ball for what life hands you and if you chose ink as your template for expression, then you just gotta roll with it.

I’d hit it.

Well, I’ve always been fascinated by cool tats especially the latin phrases. I feel that though tattoos SHOULD be personal and unique, alot of people may draw inspiration from a certain quote and I’ve always been amazed by what those little phrases can mean to some people.

The first tat will be across my back and though corny to some, its an ode to the little town where I grew up and the people there. You can say it’s been in the making for a couple of YEARS now. I wanted to get it since I was 14, about 3 years ago and legally I still can’t get one as I just turned 17 today/yesterday back home. But a friend hooked me up with a tattoo artist and I’m gonna be getting it soon.

The second will be smaller and I’m thinking of something latin. I got an idea, but was just hoping to get a few more…

Go boondocks saint style. Aequitas and Veritas on your trigger fingers.

Why would we tell you our tattoos knowing you plan on stealing an idea and taking it for life?

I have 2 latin tattoes but I hestitate to tell you for fear of someone asking you why you got it, to which you reply. “Oh MementoMori told me all about it and it just fit, SIGH he really really gets me, you know?”

That being said Memento Mori is one of them obviously…

alright, kiddo…one more thing, make SURE you see plenty work done by your friend’s artist. the LAST thing you want is some suck ass piece of work across your back, or anywhere ftm…trust me.

i went to a very big name shop in Sacramento for my first. i had my own drawing and it was a well-thought idea. the dude talked me into something else. i was young and didn’t know any better. it ended up being shit and i hated it for years. (it was the scorpion that is now covered up by the phoenix.)

sorry, despite the fact i took Latin, i don’t have any inspiring quotes for you, …good luck and enjoy your ink.

Don’t get a tattoo at 17. You’ll be a completely different person in 5 years. Chances are, whatever you think this tattoo means to you now will have a different meaning down the road. I regret both of my tats (which I got at 17 and 18, incidentally).

Learn from my mistakes, brosef.

i completely agree Lanky but i didn’t want to crush the kid. nobody could have stopped me when i was that age and i suspect it will be the same for him.

You’re probably right. It took me til 20 years old to realize that older people are usually right.

Ah well. OP - just get it small enough to cover it up later, haha.

I know Lank, if it was my kid getting a tat, I probably would tell him the same thing. But I think my case is different. Like I said, I’m getting a tat that’s basically an “ode” to my little hometown. I was just there last September and stayed for a month, and I’ll tell you, I didn’t wanna leave AGAIN. It really is important to me so I’m willing to bet anything that I’ll never regret that tattoo.

I appreciate you guys actually trying to help, and trust me, I’ve thought about this for a couple of years now. As for the second tattoo, I think I’ll put it off for now and just get the original idea. Thanks.

LMAO. Yeah I came across Memento Mori and thought it’s a good phrase, it wouldn’t fit me at all. Thanks though, and that tat on your arm is nice.

You could always get a white tattoo for the second one…they are less visible and easier to conceal. What is a White Ink Tattoo? (with pictures)

Everyone likes to think their particular circumstance is different. If this really is a great idea, and you’re sure you’re still going to love it 5 years from now, why not just wait 5 years to get it? You’ve got nothing to lose by waiting.

I know you won’t listen, but I’m just trying to give you a different perspective because it’s very rare to find someone who will admit to regretting a tattoo. Most people will never admit it because they feel it’s embarrassing that they made such a foolish decision.

I saw this band (Saviours) and they kicked ass, and so did the frontman’s tats. Gave me some motivation to finally get something done on my arm.

Get a tramp stamp that says “manhole” in a tribal design.

And a barbed wire armband.

Thanks, my other one is Alea Iacta Est, Said by Caesar as he invaded Italy, across my shoulder. Has 2 debated meanings, Let the Dice Fly High, or The Die is Cast. I prefer the former and like the dichotomy in definition.
Why don’t you tell us exactly what your tattoo idea is instead of explaining it as an ode. If you don’t feel comfortable explaining it on the interweb to strangers it might be a pain in the ass to have it on your body.

Also I wanted my first when I was 16, waited till I was 18 and felt I had enough money and muscle to justify it. Obviously still early but I’d recommend waiting till your legal… for the obvious reason of avoiding getting a sketch tat in a dingy basement.

I wonder if we know the same guy. I happen to know of a person with the exact same thing. He lives in Melbourne, Australia… small world?

Maybe he should get a tattoo of a quote by Caesar like you. Something like “Et tu Brute?”
