Hi. I’m trying to ween myself off of caffeine. One cup of coffee used to keep me wired almost all day, now I’m up to 3-5 a day and no longer feel that jolt. It does however make falling asleep very difficult and I get the jitters. I’ve heard many strength coaches promote caffeine pre-workout to increase performance.
I train pretty late at night so caffeine pre-workout is not the best for me. Are there any good pre-workout/energy boosting supps that are caffeine free ?

You could try something like Power Drive. Power Broker Drive.jsp
Even though some people now prefer to use it post-workout (to boost CNS recovery), it was/is originally suggested as a pre-workout, as per the label directions.
I’ll sometimes throw it right into the shake I have during training and generally feel a nice difference without getting over-amped.
Or, if you have a protein/carb shake post-workout, simply having some pre-workout and the rest during training might make a noticeable difference in your energy.
Friend of mine swears by green tea even before evenings workouts. Something about blood brain barrier and the chemicals in green tea being different from coffee or caffeine pills? You can tell I listen to him thoroughly and write down every pearl. Maybe someone else here knows what I am trying to say.

interdasting.
Anywho, I keep it simple. 1 Java Stim (Poliquin caffeine product) 45 mins prior. Does the job.

I’ll second what Chris says about Power Drive, i use to combine a serving of it with a capful of Alpha-GPC and it seems to be a nice combination that still allowed me to get to sleep at night.
Your other option is trying out Caffeine Free Brain Candy, which has all the mind boosting properties of the Original version minus the caffeine.
