Okay, if this was posted before, apologies, but just saw it. I am not someone who gets all giggly and twitchy over huge effects films but damned if a big smile didn’t come to my face at the end of this trailer. And now it sucks that May seems far away.
Looks awesome.
I hope Matthew Broderick and Hank Azaria are in it.
Been waiting for this one since it was first announced at ComicCon a couple years ago. Awesome that they finally released the trailer and are hyping it on youtube.

Yeah I remember hearing about it a couple of years and ago and was really excited. They were supposed to make it earlier but that was after some initial roadblocks for the production company like rights and stuff I believe. At least they actually made it and it looks bad-ass from the teaser trailer.
Apparently they’ve made it as a modern remake of the original Japanese Godzilla from yesteryear, not a “hip-hop” interpretation like the 1998 film with Matthew Broderick (still one of favorite movies growing up) that caused displeasure among the Japanese copyright holders and stalled another Hollywood remake. I don’t know if keeping true to the original Godzilla was a “condition” of releasing the production rights (because we all know money talks) but I’m positive most fan boys are happy we’re not getting another Diddy-style interpretation.
I was never picky about how Godzilla ended up looking, I just want a quality Hollywood epic that doesn’t disappoint me after I leave the theater like so many other “hyped” films people spend months eagerly waiting for i.e. Battle LA.
Finally a movie about someone who’s supposed to destroy cities.
Not like that fool Superman in that latest turd.

Yeah, there was actually another whole film scheduled to be made that had a pretty decent script from what I’ve heard and a very Reptilian looking Godzilla design, but apparently it hit some insurmountable roadblocks and got scrapped. This version and Godzilla design look really promising IMO (but then I’m a total fan boy).
I’m fine with different designs (Big G’s look has changed quite a few times since the original 1954 flick); what I’m not cool with is completely redesigning the character like the 98 film did (no atomic breath, in fact no mention or inclusion of radioactivity at all, running away scared of helicopters, hermaphrodite, etc…). Had they called the 98 film something other than Godzilla, nobody would have been upset (it actually wasn’t bad for a giant dinosaur movie, just not a Godzilla movie). The film makers just tried to cash in on the name, but totally failed to grasp the essence of the character.
It would be like making an Incredible Hulk movie, but instead of having him be gamma mutated huge green unstoppable wrecking machine when he gets mad, making him just some big strong dude who’s a great fighter and has anger management issues. That could make a cool movie, but it wouldn’t be an Incredible Hulk movie.

Hah, doesn’t look like it. But if you watch closely, you can see that Heisenberg is in the film. I don’t know what the script is like, but we may get to see Godzilla on Meth.
If this movie does well they should have a Pacific Rim Godzilla cross-over where Jaegers and Godzilla fuck up other Kaiju. Just like del Toro said at WonderCon 2013.
Kind of disappointed Aaron Johnson is the lead…
hope its good so there is Godzilla-Rodan sequel
I wish Aziz Ansari would have been cast as the lead.

Don’t believe he can pull off a military type character like ‘Lieutenant Ford’.

Fair enough. From what I’ve seen of him he’s quite a versatile actor.
