Hudson.

Hmm… can I get my 5 minutes back? I’m generally ok with Prince, but this wasn’t even close to his best. Rock God? Nope.

Just a taster of his ability to out-rock many career rockers. If you doubt his inclusion, you should watch the vid I posted in the Best Rock Guitarist thread, which is a bona fide rock solo and he out plays everyone on stage.

Most people judge his ability by his albums. The concert material on Youtube really shows off his versatility - this is from someone who, until recently, only liked a few of Prince’s songs.

roybot-
I know he’s a much better player than that video shows. I don’t doubt the inclusion. He’s usually far crazier and has a more distorted, blistering tone.
Full disclosure, I saw Purple Rain 7 times when it came out.
OK, it was 12…
But really it was for Applonia!

James
Lars
Kirk
Cliff

MSG

they’all’re biting his style~

Although I love the electric guitar I have to say that just hearing it makes me think of times before 1995.

In that way, rock and roll is sort of dead.

Frank Marino is pretty cool. I love the live album and Juggernaut album. And I do mean vinyl.

That 78 live album was a masterpiece. I had Juggernaut on vinyl too. Franky’s still around actually. He was just so unbendingly non-commercial. Didn’t go after the money. Played what he wanted. One of the most underrated and unrecognized truly great rock musicians of all time in my opinion. This guy posted that whole live album.

Man that dude could burn up a fretboard. He was not all mindless shred either. He had jazzy creative writing and arrangements too.

Agreed. Frank was very jazzy and bluesy, and actually really a positive “power to the people” kinda guy. I don’t consider him a shredder at all. Sure he played fast sometimes, but he didn’t shred.
I hate that word, btw…

Nothing’s changed. 19 views on this utterly awesome song. LOL!!! Ya know what though. Franky would rather have 19 authentic views than 3 million he had to compromise his music to get. That’s the way he is.

The bluesy/jazzy wah pedal enhanced rhythm chops are the coolest part of this tune.
