I did respond to your post. Maybe not the way you wanted - but that is not my problem.

Like I said earlier - if you think he is defendable then knock yourself out. I am not going to waste my time debating lixy. I would have to give a shit about the subject matter to do that.

Yes. You responded by refusing to back up your claims.

They are insults hurled on an internet forum. Not claims. Learn the difference.

There are a whole pile of baseless claims hurled against me in this forum. It’s part of the game.

You can play it - yet I am supposed to back my claims with quotes?

Just in the last 10 posts I have been called a neocon, a religious extremist, and stupid.

I don’t give a shit what you call me - and at least in some sense, lixy gets that much.
I already clarified that I was saying you did something neocons often do, not calling you a neocon. Secondly, you’re only stupid if you actually believe the “Either you’re with us or with the terrorists!” nonsense.

Finally, to explain my “keep on topic” comment, you told another poster, earlier in this thread, that if they want to “debate a topic” you will… however, the topic at hand (if your claims that lixy supports terrorists), you refused to actually debate (other than some line about how we dont know the whole story).
rainjack wrote:
I am not obligated. Where did you get the idea anyone is obligated to do anything on an internet forum?
Let me get that straight: You don’t give a rat’s ass about the issues, yet you feel the urge to comment on them? It makes no sense whatsoever.

Do explain why you feel obligated to share your opinion on subjects you don’t care about.

haha way to split hairs.

Lixy, you have to be a little more simple for this one. I’ll give it a go…

Jackie, why did you share your opinion on something that you dont care about? Doesnt that indicate that you do care about it, at very least enough to form and voice an opinion about it?

Oh, wait, I mean type. I’m sure you’ll respond by pointing out that you didnt “voice” an opinion because this is an internet forum and we cant hear each others voices.

People with Rainjack’s line of thinking are putting our country in a bad kind of way…Really bad. I’m sick of religious extemists on both sides and their violence and wars. The best thing that could happen in this world would be if we got rid of religion all together.

A few things:

 1. The Onion is a notoriously liberal rag. I’ve read it on occasion, I never really found it informative or entertaining.

 2. Kindly let me know how Christianity is currently harming you. Especially in light of the fact that you can choose whichever religion you like, or simply choose to be an atheist. Are you trying to control what other people choose to believe, is that it?

 3. I always enjoy reading Rainjacks posts. He’s been posting on these boards and making sense for quite a few years.
Christians are easy to bag on because they don’t respond by blowing up buildings or busses. That’s why Leftists can put Christians in the same plane with Muslims — they have nothing to fear.

I also agree about Rainjack. He writes some damnned good stuff. And his insults always give me a good chuckle!

The Golden Rule, while being rooted in Christianity, is infallible logic in my mind. How can one expect to be respected when one does not act respectfully toward others. We should practice this especially with people we do not agree with. I’ll be the first to admit I do not always achieve this ideal.
What if the Golden Rule got you planes flying into your buildings? Why must the West always be the one to turn the other cheek?

Oh, because we’re rich and we’ve drained their oil, and blah, blah, blah…I get it now.
Fitnessdiva wrote:
I wasn’t talking to you and I invite you to find where I called you a name.
I’ve heard christians laugh and say, ‘they aren’t god’s people’ during bombings in Iraq. Pretty sick stuff. And another thing, if you think the war in Iraq is so important and we can’t afford to leave, then you should be in uniform. If not, you are nothing but a chickenhawk.

It is an if/then statement - but judging from your bigotry, you have already passed judgment on the conditionals.

If you weren’t talking to me - then maybe you should start using names to point out who your are insulting.

You guys take this shit way too seriously.

Let me break it down for all you key board warriors out there.

 1. I am bored shitless.

 2. I love pissing people off

 3. I can fix the boredom issue, and piss people off by posting on here.

 4. The more I piss people off - the more people search out my posts. (face it C&P - you didn’t give a shit about interacting with me till I pissed you off). Not a big deal - but it perpetuates #2, and helps prevent #1.

Now - are there any questions? If not, you guys might want to find a new dead horse to beat, as this is 2-3 days old by now.

FYI C&P - I didn’t steal “I’ll type slowly” from you. I was saying that shit before you were C or a P.

Headhunter, the Golden Rule has nothing to do with turning the other cheek. It is, as I’m sure you know, “do unto others as you would have them do unto you.”

If the foreign policy of all nations, including the United States, were modeled after this, then likely we would live in a happier world.

Instead, we have chosen to go with “as ye sow, so shall ye reap.”

And it’s a bumper crop.

This is at least in part BS because I would at least take you semi-seriously because you run your own business.

That tends to flush a lot of BS right out of the system…

Welcome back!

Trouble is that we (the USA) are supposed to follow the Golden Rule, while the rest of the world can do what they like. The ‘reason’ for this is usually given by trying to assign guilt for accomplishment: “Oh, you’re so rich, you’re so powerful! You have to follow the rules and play fair!” So we run nice ‘mild’ wars while our enemies bomb railroads, airports, and saw off heads.

Could we, and the rest of the world, just please conquer the Middle East and be done with it? We conquered and civilised Japan, western Europe, Italy, and most of the South Pacific (though we slipped up in 'Nam). Get it over with, for Crissakes!!
Fitnessdiva wrote:
With no religion we wouldn’t have the issues in the middle east, Iraq, terrorism, etc. The vast majority of wars throughout history have been fought over religion. We also have a significant number of christians in this country warmongering for the total destruction of Muslim countries to even include the want for use of nuclear weapons.

When I’ve got family and friends in the military in those places, I’d say it affects me. I know you’ll use the typical cop-out that ‘they chose to join’ but I don’t think they intended to be used as they are (IE, not even defending our country), and that is also the reason they and so many other members of the military are leaving the service at an exponential rate.
Bullshit. We’d fight over what to name ourselves, eventually destroy ourselves and leave the world to the Allied Atheist Alliance of Otters.

Religion isn’t the problem, the nature of a few bad humans is. And when bad humans lead through fear and lies, we get what we have today. Bloody horrible chaos.

Or… it could be the nutjobs over here who advocate “conquering” them…

nope, nope. Def. the freedoms thing.

What does me being a business owner have to do with anything?

So which part is BS, and which half is serious?

There are issues that I take more seriously than others, but for the most part the political forum is just a fun place to piss people off.

I’m not sure I am understanding you 100%. But are you suggesting that because I am a business owner, I am mostly serious in here?
Fitnessdiva wrote:

I think I understand what you’re saying. Because there are Muslim terrorists in the Middle East then that means that Christians here in the US are evil.

Sounds like you’re stereotyping here. And you did say “our country” as in the US would be better without religion, right?

So, you have not proven your point.

Let’s take a look at the last four major wars the US fought in:

Civil War not about religion

Spanish American War not about religion

WW I not about religion

WW II not about religion

Korea not about religion

Viet Nam not about religion

I’d say more people, on both sides, died in those wars than in any others. Yet, not one of them was about religion.

Would you like to take back your erroneous statement?

A significant amount huh? Well, that’s news to me, why don’t you give me some examples of these significant large Christian groups who want to blow up Muslim countries.

Or, you could apologize to all Christians for your ridiculous attempt to belittle them.

And I’ve heard some black people say that they like Watermelon. Does that mean that all black people like watermelon?

No, not at all. What you’re doing is stereotyping again.

Stop swallowing the liberal/atheist line word for word. Start thinking for yourself. You’ll feel so much better.

Just to clarify - the Onion is a satirical paper. It is in no way meant to be informative, so that is not surprising. What is surprising is that you’ve never found it entertaining.
