God and Hell

bloody hell…

to answer OP question - there are two options. 1 is that religion A is right, and therefore the billions of people who have died not following that religion are in hell, or 2, religion doesnt exist.

i really dont want to get into a debate with anyone, an wont be answering any questions that any puts to me. this isnt out of rudeness, but i have debated with so so many religious people, and their ‘proofs’ seem to come one of a few ways;
“says it in the bible and the bible is the word of god, so its true.”
“ive experienced it for myself, so i know its true.”
“god didnt mean for us to question or answer any of these intricate things that he designed”
“what if youre wrong…”
“how could somehting just happen, everything is designed.”

so…
joseph was an early prototype for jesus, with a staggering amount of similarities from one book ot another.

the qualities of jesus/joseph have turned up time and time again in myriad other gods older than him.

if everything has to be designed then god must have been designed, but he was eternal - question mark.

the world is not 6 thousand years old, but a great great deal older than that.

evolution is a proven fact, god did not create all creatures as they are now.

God sat back for thousands of years watching ungodly acts performed on his children, and then decided to intervene with jesus (by placing him in a secluded and awkward place for the message of god to be sent across the world.

Morals were around far before religion carved them into stones; if every single person before god had raped, killed, eaten and fucked their family the human species would be in particularly bad shape compared to now.

there is either one real religion, or no religion. there have been thousands of religions over thousands of years, and only few have sprouted into massive ones. they all profess to be different, yet preach similar things anyway. religions spread hate and intolerance. religions have no real proof of their claims, nothing substantial to back up their assertions on god, the afterlife etc, and serve merely to gain money, take people’s choice and freedom of thought away.

as i said, i wont be returning to this thread, and wont be answering anything.
if you are religious and take offence, then perhaps it will place a glimmer of doubt in you about what you subscribe to, and ‘heaven forbid’ (used ironically) any children you may be bringing up.

You’ve not placed a single doubt in my mind as I’ve heard every single word of this before. There is only one question you have to answer, and you don’t have to do it on this or any other thread. That is, who was Jesus Christ? It is a fact that he lived, he is an historical figure, so who was he? Was he who he said he was? If not who was he? One more question while I’m at it; why did those who were closest to him die such violent deaths unless they were convinced that they saw something very, very extraordinary?

If I don’t hear back from you I hope that this puts at least a glimmer of doubt in you and any children you may (someday) bring up.

Why does THIS question, out of the very many seemingly important ones, have to be answered?
History is distorted. It is he-say, she-say. We either overexaggerate or underemphasize, but we never tell it like it is.

I do not know any of those answers (as it seems so trivial to even begin to enquire into the past). All I have is now. All I can feel - see - taste… is now.

Surely the Christian God knows this.
So why oh why , Christian God, are you hiding in the past?

I don’t think that God is hiding anywhere. I have witnessed miracles and have had many prayers answered to my complete satisfaction. But I do think that it is incumbent upon us as part of Gods creation to try to find God, as in relentless pursuit. I think we both know that this isn’t an easy quest, but certainly worthwhile. If you could have a one on one relationship with the creator do you think that you would view life differently? Don’t you think that things would make more sense at the very least?
