Go Sheriff Joe

If you can;t stand the heat - get of out Arizona!!! LMAO!!!

(Rolls around on the ground in hysterical fits of laughter . . . .composes himself and returns to the keyboard . . .)

Whew . . .seems to me that your description of the jail system is one of a well-oiled machine doing the best it can to cope with a prodigious amount of innocent criminal types in a territory larger than most states.

Seems to me that being a republican would never be enough to convince the rugged peoples of Maricopa county to vote for an incompetent sheriff.

I will give you my take; I have lived in Maricopa County for the past 25 years
Sheriff Joe was elected sheriff in a when the economy was contracting, not only that, Arizona has always been an anti tax state. Phoenix was the fastest growing city in America. The county refused to give him more money even though he was getting a lot more prisoners. So he devised tent city. I personally thought it a? Good Idea ?.

Joe is responsible for all the unincorporated areas of Maricopa county, which tend to be more poor than the rest, they have been over run with illegal immigration, he is sweeping them up , and making enemies out of all the other elected officials , the news organizations

I voted for him because I personally think illegal immigration seriously affects the wages of the working class which includes yours truly

On the other hand I know people that have been in his jail, that were their for thing they never should been, Like all jails there are people in jail for drug offenses and there are even innocent people, these people come out hating Joe Arpio, I do think he not only does what he has to do to balance a budget, he also enjoys the misery that his practices and procedures create.

If I were to have to go to Jail, I would opt. for Tent city in the winter ,late fall or early spring, other wise I would call it cruel and unusual punishment. He has done some things that are very questionable and the only reason Joe gets elected is his attitude toward illegal immigration

I think Joe is doing a good thing, that being said, some innocent people are getting thrown into detention for what might be looking like an illegal immigrant. While that situation would totally suck, I agree with pittbulll that illegal immigration is a poison to the community. Wages and unemployment would improve as citizens could get those jobs, which in turn causes them to pay taxes (something illegals don’t do) and create revenue for the state.

Speaking of Tent City and pink underwear… I’ve always been of a mind where prisoners should be made to work. You want to eat? Get your ass out in a self contained farm(hypothetical) that each prison should have. If there is a surplus, the food goes into the U.S. market. We should cut out all the cell phones, tv, basketball, weights, and start making a prison term what it is meant to be a punishment.

You realize we have a Constitutional amendment banning slavery yes?[/quote]
Thats fine, so let them have a chance to earn money to buy food and in the mean time they can live on dog food.

I find it funny they they keep trying to get Sheriff Joe out but since it’s a voted position they can’t because everyone is more than happy with him. Just shows that the politician you voted for doesn’t really represents what you want.

The idea that jail is a place to house those who are innocent until proven guilty is as old as time and nothing will change that. That is a victim of circumstance, and if you are truly innocent you do end up getting the shitty end of the stick. As far as crime rates going up in AZ, drug cartels are becoming more aggressive and outright in their shameless crimes. Something most statisticians miss alot of the time.

For those who say Joe runs a county jail, the way he runs his jails and tent city sends people a message. Don’t fuck around in my area. Take your shit elsewhere. I like Joe’s approach, don’t do the crime if you can’t do the time. If you follow the laws like people are supposed to, you have nothing to worry about.

Here in California, because of budget problems, Governator is thinking of deporting illegals or sending them to Federal detention centers (finally a smart move). Should they come back, minimum 5 yrs Fed time with no halfway house.
