Like Sam Sneed said the issue is how he presented himself in within this thread… It should affect his self respect when he is trying to tell someone to “make sacrifices” by living at home and buying 50 thousand dollar cars.
X I would disagree with you on the GPA comment. A Phd is a Phd. Either way it will help him, but he is sacrificing the learning process of being self sufficient. This is clearly not because school is too hard. He’s making oodles of money and working plenty of hours obviously.
He is just free riding. *Sorry I mean making gut wrenching sacrifices.
This argument doesn’t interest me much, either, but Dave IS sacrificing - he wrote that when he isn’t working or studying he is sleeping. He lifts at 5am.
So, like our investment banker, he has little to no free time. And, like our investment banker, in exchange for this, he is making excellent money and setting himself up for his future.
Does the fact that he doesn’t shell out money for a place to crash like our investment banker trivialize the time he chooses to give up to pursue his goals? I’m sure our investment banker is driving an expensive car, as well.
As far as the learning process of being self-sufficient… clearly he is a competent individual, given that he has a high-paying job and is pursuing an advanced degree. He must also be disciplined, given that he wakes up at 5am to lift weights. Do you honestly believe he is incapable of paying bills on time, doing his own laundry and feeding himself when he is hungry?
Granted, if I were making the kind of money he (supposedly) is I would feel guilty about my parents taking on all my school expenses, unless they happen to wipe their asses with hundred dollar bills. But if his parents are happy to shoulder that burden, who are we to judge?
For the record I don’t see a problem with his parents helping him with school.
