It got Best Actor at least, and damn right too! If it had to lose best picture to any one I’m glad it lost to No Country for Old Men.
I know at least one of you philistine sons of bitches has seen this movie. What did you think?

Hmm, pic didn’t come through.
I must admit, I wanted Depp to win for his performance as Sweeney Todd, which is pretty much my favorite movie.
I could not stand ‘No Country For Old Men’. Another unstoppable genius psychopathic killer who is also “really deep” and somehow able to evade the police constantly. Can someone stop making movies with unstoppable killers please, it is getting very predictable and very boring.
I too am glad Mr Lewis won, as he is a rare actor who doesn’t just play himself all the time, as everyone else seems to.
Daniel Day-Lewis became my favorite living actor once Marlon Brando passed away.
His performance as Daniel Plainview actually surpassed the excellence of his Bill “The Butcher” Cutting character in Gangs of New York.
“And my straw reaches acroooooooss the room, and starts to drink your milkshake… I… drink… your… milkshake! I drink it up!”
One of the best movies I have ever seen. Easily in my top 5. I loved No Country for Old Men, but I think There Will be Blood was a much, much better film. I suppose No Country is more accessible, which might explain it’s popularity, but I think There Will be Blood has it beat on all points.
At least Lewis won best actor, as anyone who’s seen the film knows he ought to have.
“Did you think your song and dance and your superstition would help you, Eli? I am the Third Revelation! I am who the Lord has chosen!”
…already a classic, imho.
Hate to say it, but I fell asleep during Sweeney Todd. Depp’s work is great, but Day-Louis has provided timeless work.
