This is federally subsidized environmental mitantism. Seriously, they couldn’t just get a guitar to see what kind of wood it was made of? They had to raid the offices and shut down their business over a few stupid trees?
One word: Assholes.
It is hard to imagine that if Gibson is buying illegal wood that they would have to know it, I would think they would have to pay a premium for that wood. If they do not know then they should go after the supplier
There are a lot of federal agencies doing anything they possible can to justify their existence right now.
Expect more lunacy with big budget cuts looming on the horizon.
