Here’s the kicker, tonight I’m actually BBQing steaks for 4 other people and supplying them with beer! Meanwhile, I’ll feast on a small dry portion of steak. Damn relatives.

-Check weight at about 9ish when relatives leave/kids in bed.
-Hot epsom salt bath (duration will depend on weight).
-Eat 2nd lemon if needed.
-Clean house for a bit (not actually cut related, but it’s what I gotta do tonight). If my weight isn’t coming off, then I’ll overdress coming out of the bath and that should get a good sweat going.
-Bed.
-Saturday Wake up at 4:30ish
-5:00am Drive to Belle River (roughly 3hrs). Hopefully I’ll be there early and can “pre-weigh” myself on the scales.
-8:30/9:00am weigh-in, than rehydrate while I watch Bunny (in his mantard).
-11:00am Start lifting!

Sounds like a crazy busy night and a super early morning. How do you do this?

Although it does beat having to stay up until 1am ‘painting’ yourself, lemme tell ya!

‘Smoke’ your squats young man!
‘Smack’ your bench up!
and
‘Rock’ your pull!

I’d actually be concerned if I was planning too much sleep/rest as it would take me too far out of my “normal” routine.

As for paintin’ yourself up…, been there, done that! Totally agree it sucks ass. Worst part was trying to get sleep and being worried your going to rub the paint off.

The only thing weirder is painting another guy, while he’s in his trunks at 1:00am, in a hotel room in Montreal.

This is a story I think I need to hear.

Dianab and I shared a room in Moosejaw but we didn’t paint each other. We were limited to pillow fights.

I’d rather hear about the pillow fights. And it’s ok to lie and embelish.

As for the Montreal story, it sounds odder when left to a couple lines.

In my previous weight training life (before I completely quit lifting for a decade)I trained as a body builder and actually competed 3 times (as a junior). The last time was in Montreal for the Nationals. All you had to do to qualify was win Provincials and coming from PEI that wasn’t too difficult.

The guy that coached my was competing as well in the Canada Cup, which was a pro qualifer at the time. So we traveled to Montreal together and split a room. Obviously you can’t paint your own back, so we had to help each other.

So I can actually say I competed at the Jr. National level in bodybuilding and placed top 5.

…of course it was a bad year an only 5 people competed in the Jr. division and the other guy that placed our of the top 3 beat me two weeks earlier at the Atlantic Championships… [/quote]

Still you got out there and did it. Do you have any pictures? They’d be great to see.

I’ll tell you all sorts if lies and embellishments about pillow fights and what not tomorrow before you squat.

I have a couple from my first show @17 yrs old. I lost the couple I had from my 2nd (I think an old girlfriend ended up with them, so they would have numerous dart holes in them now) and we never even thought about it for my third.

I looked my best for the 2nd show and I had a video of that, but it ended up getting “lost” at the front desk of the gym I trained in at the time.

3rd show, my coach bought the tape for himself. I was going to make a copy but it disappeared after his girlfriend and him broke up.

You better leave your stories for after the squat, I have a vivid imagination. It could be distracting.

As of 2:55pm, fluid consumption ended, ~1.5L for the day.

Half way through my lemon right now. Tasty!

How does this equate to fair? He told for all the world to hear.

Boo to you!

Hellooo. That’s why it’s fun. It’s a test of how hardcore and power lifter you are.

RL you did great out there today and I just realised I never shared the pillow fight story. I’ll let you share your own details. However, I’ll just underscore that a great deal of it is no doubt down to the excellent coaching you received today. “Just pick it up and lock it out”. Those are great words of inspiration.

Next time we’ll see if they can’t schedule you earlier before I start to nod off from the early start.

You rocked out the first use of the squat suit. Think what you can do when you get the rest of the cheater gear going.

I’ll post a bit more of a write-up later (if I can think of any interesting details), but everything I achieved the two results I wanted.

1 (and most important)- I didn’t do a face plant on my first squat attempt! That was a really good start. I was seriously a little worried since the only way I could get depth was to go fairly fast, but not be used to the suit it was throwing me forward.

2 - I needed a 455kgs total to qualify for the competition in November.

So the results were:

1st squat - 150kgs (~330lbs) good lift
2nd squat - 160kgs (~353lbs) good lift
3rd squat - 172.5kgs (~380lbs) good lift (Thanks Ouro for adding the extra 2.5kgs here.)

1st bench - 102.5kgs (~225lbs) good lift
2nd bench - 107.5kgs (~236lbs) good lift <— Another good call by Ouro we made prior to today.

3rd bench - 110kgs (~242lbs) good eccentric, but they were sticklers for actually pressing so no lift.

Sub-total - 280kgs (need 175kgs for total) ← This is why Ouro’s help with the other attempts was really useful. I was going to go 170kgs on 3rd squat which likely wouldn’t have impacted the end result, but mentally I was now where I should have been if I would of went 6 for 6.

1st deadlift - 175kgs (~385lbs) good lift and 455 total achieved.
2nd deadlift - 187.5kgs (~415lbs) good lift and a 5kg PR.

3rd deadlift - 192.5 (~425lbs) no lift. Next time.

Total 467.5kgs (~1,030lbs)

I’d also like to thank Ouro for her stellar handling skills and bunny for him cinematic brilliance!

And of course Court, always a pleasure.

RL, It’s good to see the lifts from that angle. I thought all your squats looked a bit high from the side but from the front they were good. I guess the judges called them okay.

I don’t know why bunny kept going on about big hair. Must be a Barrie thing. My hair looked pretty damn good.

Great job. I had a blast just pulling your pants off you

I also just realised you and bunny were wearing the exact same outfit down to the socks. Super gay guys

Not completely true:

Matching mantards - check
Matching socks - check
Matching shoes - check
Matching T-shirts - no check one black, one white!

Pretty close. Unfortunately we never got the “mini me” shot.

Nice work RL! Squat looked easy!

Thanks. If I didn’t have a specific total in mind, I would have likely changed my attempts to shoot higher. But I played squats safe to make sure I gave myself a shot.

So hear I come with a few pictures. This is me, bunny and RL after bunny blew a nut with his 630lb dead lift. RL hadn’t started lifting yet and sadly we didn’t them in their super gay matching outfits side by side.

Aren’t we a handsome group?

Congrats on a great meet RL! Qualifying total and PRs!

Here is RL getting into his sexy squat suit with the suit slippers. In the foreground is Court’s crotch.

LOL! Now that is one great picture (and bunny thought the mantard was bad).

Thanks a lot. I wasn’t pushing for any big PRs since the total is what i was after, but it worked out nicely that I was able to take a couple deadlift PR attempts after I hit my total.

That’s a cute picture… Uncle Franko is taking off my suit slippers. He pinched my legs about 5 times and I was likely in the midst of threatening to kick him in the balls if he pinched me again when you snapped this shot.

Really nice job at the meet! Congrats on surpassing your goal and also hitting all 3 squat attempts so early in your suited career! Looks like you had some great coaching too.

Thanks. I got worried about the squats when I only got 2 whites on my first attempt. But they went better after that. I think if I hadn’t of had Ouro there submitting my attempt (and sticking close to the plan, I would have went up higher. I think I can squat more, but that really wasn’t the time to test it.
