My son got braces. If anyone is getting them for themself (word?) or a family member, look into whether your job has a flexible spending plan…I put $5,000 in there tax free…they deduct 1/26th of it every pay period…I paid for the braces on 1/1 and got ‘reimbursed’ the full 5,000 on roughly 1/15.
When using the wax, make sure not to use too much, or it’ll clump and come off.
I think the worst part about braces is that you can’t floss and you have to be more thorough with brushing since they add a million little nooks and crannies for food to get stuck in.
If you can get your hands on it, you should def. try gargling with hydrogen peroxide. Not the OTC 3% solution, because that comes with some acid that I forget that gives mouth cancer, but diluted food grade or maybe pool cleaner h202.
I guess you’re not supposed to talk about gargling with h202 since it’s potentially poisonous if you swallow it, but I think it’s worth it especially considering how it will reach every facet of your tooth. I guess if you do try it, you might have to be careful with frequency so that you don’t end up with iridescent teeth.
I loved the wax. Chicks didn’t dig me when I had braces from 16-19 y/o. Didn’t help that I was a dork too. Got them off less than a week before Ft Benning and Army Basic Training.
Upside, I did end up with straight teeth and became less of a dork.
