Thanks doc. I’m taking berberine (trusted brand) 500mg with every meal. Digestion seems like it normalized a bit.

I got an interesting lecture (from a doctor) Wed about the evils of Metformin. How awful it was for old people.

@ChickenLittle lol that is antiquated thinking. We use it for anti aging. The only people who don’t do well are those with impaired kidney function. Most diseases are rooted in insulin resistance and inflammation. It improves lipids, inflammatory markers, and it goes on and on. There have literally been zero people who have ever had lactic acidosis from metformin. It’s only been done in vitro. And those cells were pumped full of ungodly amounts lol

Well, he implied that the Metformin was the cause my peep’s blood sugar tanked. I know enough to know that’s not how it works. Makes me question everything else he said.

@ChickenLittle yes contrary to that shit metformin is a chronic medicine - not acute. You don’t “go hypo” by using it. That’s medical folklore. I hope whomever you’re speaking of is ok

Thank you. His time is limited, at 89 that’s to be expected. But, the spiteful ones seem to be pretty damn resilient.

I got a similar lecture from my sister-in-law, a nurse practitioner, when I ask if she would write me a script for it at Christmas.

Don’t meat eaters get enough B-vitamins through their diet? Any other supplements that you recommend for everyone?

@Voxel there are a lot of mutations in the MTHFR gene that prevent people from methylation. They have lower levels of folate. Doesn’t matter how much b12 you consume if you can’t use it.

I use the B12 (Methylcobalamin) strips. Is this adequate?

How long after a meal?
