George W. Bush Today

Strange but true.

Now that the war is a fact, I’m for winning it. I want democracy to arrive in the Middle East. I want the people of Iraq to be free, and I want them to become an incredibly positive ally, perhaps such as Japan or Germany after WWII.

At the same time, I do get to bitch about the way the war was started. It would have been nice for the war to be sold to the public on the reasons for it. Liberating the people from a horrible dictator, bringing democracy to the Middle East, and so on. However, as much as some don’t like to hear it, that is not how the road to war was travelled. The US marched down the road to war to the tune of the drums of fear… and the drums appear to have been beaten masterfully by the administration. That, I’m afraid, is shameful.

Back to positive items, I want every soldier to have as much high tech armor as they can wear, supplied by the government. I want every soldier coming back with so much as an ingrown toenail to be given as much medical or psychological help as needed by the government. I want every effort made to secure AND HOLD the borders of Iraq and any strongpoint used by terrorists, insurgents or whatever the hell you want to call them. I want every able bodied loyal Iraqi to feel it is an honor to serve in the Iraqi military and help secure a free country.

I worry that the constitution being adopted by the Iraqi’s will not do enough to secure human rights for women.

I don’t feel it is necessary to curtail the freedom of everday citizens in order to combat terrorism. The tools were already in place, they just weren’t allocated appropriately. I don’t feel that torture is a valid strategy for a government that attempts to tell other governments how to respect human rights.

Oh well, nobody cares what I think or feel about any of this stuff anyway…
