George Floyd Riots

Tough talk from the Portland Mayor:

What an asshole.

Night 81! I am just going with their own count now…
They tried to flood the Police precinct this time… It’s getting biblical, oh, except they burnt all the Bibles a couple of weeks ago:

Heh, true.

How do they figure this is going to help their cause? I see they were burning flags and bibles, what next, burning crosses?

It isn’t supposed to in a normal sense. This isn’t about trying to get the attention of your fellow citizens in order to right some wrongs to make THIS nation better. To better complete or fulfill its promise. It’s a revolution. The hopeful beginnings of one. The Bernie’s and AoC’s lead the more peaceful political wing of the revolution as the Democrat party slowly warms up more and more to them. This though is the beginning of the impatient boots on the ground.

Flags, bibles, founders. It isn’t so innocuous as one may think. They know exactly what they’re doing. Chip, chip, chip away at the foundations. They have been, for a good while now.

We’re literally watching entire sports teams kneel during our anthem, in imitation of some Che loving anti-cop radical who was born privileged enough to have even had a chance to play a kid’s game for absurd amounts of money.

It was even more important to have stood for that anthem. All together. We missed the opportunity and now I doubt we’ll see it again. We’re screwed.

As much as there are some legitimate grievances about various things in America, the alternative looks much worse.

I am sure it’s coming. Their ideologies match the klan’s pretty well. But they have burnt down 3 churches (that I know of), tried to burn down St. John’s, vandalized St. Patrick’s and beheaded and desecrated several statues of Jesus and the Blessed Mother. Soooo, it’s not like they aren’t taking action.
Bill Maher, being semi-retired and not really paying attention to much anymore, has called for cancelling God. Uh, Bill, it’s in progress but I guess you haven’t gotten the memo into your pasty white hands just yet.

No. They putting in practice a Marxist concept of revolutionary defeatism, namely by trying to get Trump re-elected with continued violent protests.

Much like with the Mensheviks of pre-revolutionary Russia, they do not trust anyone in the Democratic party, with the possible exception of AOC, but only in an ā€œuseful idiotā€ role.

Trump’s reelection would further polarize the country, bring them new recruits and legitimize their deranged Marxist policies as an integral part of the anti-Trump platform in 2024.

From my view the lefty radicals have won. Their numbers are swollen, they are getting policy changes they want, they are allowed to literally do anything they want.
Personally and it’s just me, but I think they are ideally trying to erraticate Christianity for good, probably more so than overthrow the government. You carve out the root, the tree cannot grow back…
But you are right in that it is planned and deliberate. These are not random acts.

I don’t buy that for one second. Given the support the DNC is giving them both verbally and monetarily, I do not see them biting the hands that feed them.

This makes sense. Why try to be centrist if it doesn’t get you center votes? Maybe this posdible 2024 opens the door for a 3rd party as sane Republicans are disgusted with the GOP and trump, while sane democrats want no part of the far left democratic platform?

Which is a higher priority is hard to tell, but abolition of religion is a major part of communist ideology.

That makes a lot of sense, they aren’t in a strong enough position to get what they want just yet so they have to push more people to the far left before they can move on to the next level.

I was thinking about this, when the COVID shutdowns were announced back in March (in some places at least) I thought that it was the perfect setup for a communist revolution because the inevitable consequence was that businesses would shut down, lots of people would be out of work, and without extreme anti-capitalist measures by the government there would be mass evictions and foreclosures. That’s just the economic side of things, but then the death of George Floyd helped to mobilize the proletariat and set off rioting across the country that looks like it won’t end anytime soon considering the election is in a few months. Whichever way it goes doesn’t really matter because the end result will be more power to the extreme left.

I do take Covid seriously as a person with comprised immunity. But, man, the notion of large swath of young folks sitting around idle for an extended time, occupied by social media…

Yeah, makes the idea of universities, places of employment, and so on getting back to full steam seem attractive.

I’d like that to be true but I don’t see it breaking that way. Again, moderate is now a bad word in the popular discourse. Hopefully I could be wrong in the event of an actual Trump win.

People have a tendency to behave how they think they are supposed to behave. When weak people who felt powerless get power, it’s almost inevitable that they will model their behavior after those who were in power before them or at least how they perceived those in power. They see a fascist government and political system which oppresses those who oppose it. Thus, if they have the power they will oppress those who opposed them because that’s how they think those in power behave.

This guy in Portland who kicked a helpless man is weak but he found himself in a position of power. What does he do? What he thinks the powerful are supposed to do to those who disagree with them.

Being against police brutality is stupid. We should all be against brutality regardless of who does it. These clowns cry about police brutality but they are not against brutality. The world they want is no different than the world they complain about except that they will be the oppressors.

This all started well before the pandemic - see Yellow Vest protests in France from last year.

Wage stagnation, drop of purchasing power, inflation of college degrees and accompanying student debt…

Imagine if they used that time to read books, learn a new language, exercise.

I doubt many of them are students or have jobs.

Pat doesn’t know satire.

I’m not saying there is nothing serious about it, rather that certain questionable measures had obvious consequences that could be used to further a particular agenda. In Canada, cases peaked while most businesses were closed and people were being told to stay home but not wear masks because they are dangerous. Now just about everything is open to some degree, people are out and about but wearing mandatory masks and cases are way down. Kind of seems like masks should have been one of the first recommendations instead of nearly collapsing the economy.

Nah, wasn’t trying to suggest that. But even if one does think its a vital concern, it’s hard to ignore the unintended consequences of having so many young people on pause, no paychecks, no classes…
