Generation Y

I don’t know about you guys, but in Australia it seems as if as the generations go on the average IQ is exponentially decreasing amongst teenagers. By this I mean that it seems as if teenagers have become overly indulged and hence uninterested in any form of education. I think it is sad that all most teenagers in the modern age want to do without moderation is party, smoke weed, drink alcohol and have sex.

An Australian born girl in one of my classes at school was confused as to the meaning of “allies”, she thought it meant enemies. It astounds me that someone who is 16-17 could have such a dismal understanding of common English terms. My friend often says how this generation will screw up the world with its lack of motivation for anything more meaningful and worthwhile. I’m just putting it out there and I would like to hear what you guys out there think.

“The children now love luxury. They have bad manners, contempt for
authority, they show disrespect to their elders… They no longer
rise when elders enter the room. They contradict their parents,
chatter before company, gobble up dainties at the table, cross their
legs, and are tyrants over their teachers.”

Let’s play guess the author.

Also, all of the colleges you don’t get into are going to be full of those ‘uninterested in education’ generation y-ers.

It’s the fucking education system. The wealth of information available on the internet is increasing exponentially while textbooks are teaching outdated information in an uninspiring manner.

That girl in your class. Yea, some people are just fucking dumb.

“You see that young lady? Respect. Respect for ones elders shows character.” - Winston Wolf

“It’s the fucking education system. The wealth of information available on the internet is increasing exponentially while textbooks are teaching outdated information in an uninspiring manner.”

Some of us actually know how to take advantage of online information.

Besides, any uninspiring textbook can be inpsiring with an inspiring teacher. I don’t know how things work at your place(s), but abilities such as remembering formulaes for every fucking occurence, or the exact date of the french revolution and so on, is not valued over here. Critical thinking+ingenuity is what seals the deal.

Sigh, I’m being irrelevant.

How does the education work at your place anyways?(Teacher-student relationships and so on)

Teachers teach and students are supposed to learn, there is the occasional exceptional teacher that does connect with students but they’re still required to teach mandated information in a certain period of time. Kids don’t want to learn what they teach. And it’ll get worse.

I am speaking from personal experience and I just hated learning what they taught. I learned better from “cool” or “hip” (closer to being peer) teachers but they’re hard to come by.

Kids I went to highschool with banged out their homework (completely uninterested) and then went about their business (sports, internet/computer, socializing). But education wasn’t a priority and wasn’t fun. There was nothing to be gained from it.

Hence we have a system were education is mediocre and everyone is required a bachelors in order to do anything with their lives.

Why can’t educators understand that with the dawning of the information age the education system will have to revamp from the K levels up? Then a University education will actually mean something. We can’t continue in the way we are, wasting away our most beneficial years to an outdated education system.

At my school in the junior years most teachers are of poor quality, however as you get into the senior years (year 11 and 12) all those teachers whom everyone previously assumed were arseholes become the biggest help in your education. You probably learn more in the seniors years than in the rest of your education.

this is a good point because although the internet has almost entirely taken over I do not think it is a substitute for student-teacher education or even that of a text book. Sure many text books are uninspiring however I think it is a matter of finding the right text book to teach you.

That girl in your class. Yea, some people are just fucking dumb.

Look I know some people are just stupid, trust me I know this. All I hear day at school is stupid shit like “What the fuck the stupid teacher gave me 10/20 for my assignment and I did 100 more words than i had to, but ‘name’ got 15/20 and he did half a page what the fuck I give up on this subject”.

Girls at my school ESPECIALLY do this they think that quantity is better than quality, they cannot seem to comprehend that a teacher would rather you understand the concept/topic and write less as opposed to copy and pasting exactly what they said.

I think that compared to even 20 years ago the education system has been dumbed down greatly, and maybe it is because they see that these generation y-ers have no clue about what they are doing.

I know some people are just thick as a brick and maybe that can’t be helped, but the abundance of these people nowadays is amazing and i highly doubt that all of these people are deficient in some chromosome. I think most people can get a decent education if pushed hard enough. Ohwell enough from me I’ll leave you with some famous science quotes from girls in my science classes.

“Are farts invisible poos?”
“Do you get chicken pox from chickens?”
“How does the air know how to stay the right temperature?”
“How come some animals have more lives than others?”

Young people’s brains aren’t mature yet. And not everyone is smart or suited to be a statesman. That said, our education system has been infected and undermined by Marxists bent on the destruction of Western Civilization. LOL!

Absolutely true. Young people are getting dumber with each successive generation.

Equally true, however, is that they’re becoming better looking, more muscular and more athletic with each generation.

I’m still kind of up in the air as to whether or not young people are getting worse. Things have certainly changed in the last 4 or 5 generations, but I’m pretty sure this is just a by product of our success. Danger and necessity sharpen your wits.

We have too much security and too much material wealth. Even what we call the poor in Europe and North America are vastly richer than what would be called the middle class 100 years ago. So even if kids are dumber, it’s not their fault.

Kids are pussies these days, they are so soft and weak it’s pathetic.

It has a lot do with the parents and environmental issues. You have parents giving their kids absolutely what ever they want, if their wallet doesn’t accommodate their expenses then a credit card certainly will and although I may seem off topic; debt is becoming such a normal aspect of this century that the kids have no understanding of the value of actually earning their desired items with hard work.

Parents are also far too lenient in terms of their expectancy with academic results, this is in compliance with the mediocrity preached by today’s media. Everyone feels sorry the fat kid and the one who is academically inferior but the people who work hard at school and achieve something are looked down upon in Australia.

Here in Australia that is known as the “Tall Poppy syndrome”, meaning that when one poppy grows taller than the mean height of poppies the farmer must cut them down much in the same fashion as the media these days tries desperately hard to convince the public that weather we are stupid or smart, fat or fit we are all the same and all deserve the same whether we work hard or not.

The people who study hard and achieve something are never highlighted in school, instead other easier pathways like abusing the welfare system for personal benefits and increasing tax rates by being fat lazy slobs who refuse to work are considered the norm.

It is quite frustrating how accepting the society has become with accepting mediocrity and just being another face in the crowd, the desire to rise above the rest kindles in just a few of us nowadays. The education is not to blame but rather the collapsing society is.

I know what you mean about how aesthetically pleasing younger generations are becoming, but do you think it is because they actually are prettier, or just because they can pile on inches of make up and make themselves look ten fold better than they really are

I think a lot of people have forgotten what their childhood was like. I bet they were retarded too.

maybe pokemon has corrupted our youth hmm

Not really. I had fun but I was both taught to do things other than grades. Mos the lawn, dishes clean etc. shoot, sight in gun lots of what I’ll call stuff. I see many teenagers as lazy and useless. They are to worried about skinny jeans and and music and drama to understand things like common sense.

I started to lift in 1976 at 13. i thought it would be the best way to get bigger and stronger. I was told by many that it was a waste of time, that I would just get fat later. What will you do when you’re 40?

I’m 46. Lifting gave me friends and a career. But you need to work hard at something to design a life. To many relatively young, and IO don’t consider 27 or so young live at home with their parents.

They work crappy jobs because they never have applied themselves. they have kids before they get married. And the cycle of nitwhitism starts over again.

There is certainly a great deal of attention paid to looks nowadays and entire industries have arisen to that end in the service sector which didn’t exist before. That’s part of the explanation, I’m sure. Another part is the widespread availability of make-up and elective surgical procedures such as braces/orthodontics, laser vision correction, hair restoration, etc…

But is it also genetic? Are beautiful people having kids together more often? Probably also true. Personally, I think there’s an ever-widening gap between genetic “haves” and “have-nots”.
