I don’t think I’ll be rushing out to get this. The SD cart is a nice addition, as is the potential to buy and download classic games to the DSi. But, losing the GBA slot is huge, and the .3 megapixel camera doesn’t have me jumping for joy.
Shit. I might have to wait. I was going to pick one up on the 14th when the KORG DS-10 software is released stateside.
Not sure if it’s worth it to wait, ya know? Heck, there’s a bunch of software out right now that lets you play any NES, SNES game you want on your DS.
Not sure why Nintendo is pushing the ability to take pictures with the DS; I really don’t see that being a huge selling point. Maybe 7-8 years ago when digital was really starting to take hold in the market, but now, most people have a digital camera and most cell phones have a camera.
Yeah, but the old DS might get CHEAPER!
I agree with you though, remember that camera addon for the Gameboy Color? Oh you don’t? Me neither! I’m surprised Nintendo didn’t learn that lesson.

Yep, the DSL will be cheaper when the DSi comes out, but won’t be out until late next year, so keep that in mind.

I think you are missing the point, man.
It is not about individual features. Few individual features these days are so evolutionary that they change the way we do something.
Therefore, it is about setting up an infrastructure, such as what Apple has done with the iPhone: turned it into an eBook reader, created an app store, allowed for Starbucks ordering via iPhone, etc…all things that use existing technology
(seriously, none of it is groundbreaking) but because of the foresight in laying out infrastructure for their product, they have achieved seamless integration into even mundane workflows.
It is a difficult thing to get right because the consumer will not forgive your failed attempt, but if it does work out you have set an evolutionary model for product development and secured even further brand loyalty.
Goddamn, that gave me a hard on.
I understand that. I just don’t see why Nintendo is trying to turn the DS into a multi-media station. I mean, isn’t that why the PSP is around? I, for one, would much prefer to do any type of web-browsing or file sharing on my PSP well before I even considered doing the same on my DS.
Why is it so hard to find a decent Captain America Shield replica that isn’t sold out?
I saw some at Comicon in a case at a booth. Not sure if you live anywhere near a major city that hosts the convention, but you could check them out there next year.

That stuff sure sells out quick. Proof that Geeks have more disposable income?

I was never a Halo guy for some reason. Half-Life? Gears of War? Bioshock? No problem.
I wonder what replicas they made for those games?
And damn, I can’t wait for Starcraft 2…
SC2 is probably going to eclipse WoW as the most played game in the world when it releases. Brood Wars is what like, a decade old, and still one of the most played games solely because of the Korean population that plays it. Get the rest of the world involved and the numbers are going to be insane.

Ok, so more and more I am interested in the whole graphic novel thing. Bought my first one tonight: The Watchmen.
Have heard great things about this story line and I am fascinated by artwork lately.
Speaking of graphic novels:
Score!

I’ve always loved comic book art but I could never really get interested in the storyline. I’ve never read a graphic novel however.
Going back a few years I did some recreational colouring for a friend who did the inking but I’ve long lost the finished versions of it through poor backing up habits. I should contact him and see if he still has any of it. I should pick that up again. I forgot how much I enjoyed it. I was a terrible inker though and my pencils were so-so. I doubt the colouring was any good either but I sure loved doing it.
See, I’m not really a fan of comics, either. I was before, and have quite a few comics from many years back. Death’s Head and Iron Man were some of my favorite characters.
Lately, I have been very fascinated by design, all aspects of it, and as such I have become interested in illustration as well. Graphic novels have caught my fancy as a consequence.
The Watchmen was talked about in another forum and I didn’t see what was so great about the film trailer, but I wanted to give the story a shot. I’ve never read a graphic novel before; just trying to be open minded.
