I was pleasantly surprised by Hemsworth’s change for Thor. He managed to pack on more mass than I’d anticipated. Over 20 pounds (plus fat loss – so 25-30 pounds of lean mass) in 12 weeks. If you’re going to pay a skinny prettyboy to play the God of Thunder, he’d better be willing to stick a needle in his ass in exchange for a couple million dollars.
Apparently he dropped 15 pounds when shooting was done, but his arms looked decently beefy for the Avengers flick. I’ve got high hopes.

From the interviews I’ve seen and read Hensworth was already sort of a gym rat before Thor and he just got a better diet(and gear) for Thor. If you’ve read what most actors say about having to go to the gym they all whine and cry in the intervbiews Hensworth didn’t.
