What’s the verdict on Dark Soul’s? I was thinking about picking it, but I never played Demon Souls.
Go to IGN and look at the review.
YOU WILL DIE A LOT
RPG that you have to grind out the first 20 hours to even get to a level of competency.
Not story driven, it starts and you have open world without knowing WTF you are supposed to do. BUT if you like RPG’s and you grind it out, best RPG of all time is what I have heard.
Ya I just watched the review. I think I’ll give it a rent first.

LoL I would love to do it, but I might end up divorced.
Right now every evening I find myself playing Rage and I am maybe 10% done with it.
This game is way to big and open and dying every 5 minutes has got to get fucking irritating.

I deceided to rent Rage instead. It’s loading now. I spent a lot of time playing Fallout 3 and New Vegas so I’m pretty stoked. I heard the ending sucks balls though.
When producer Christopher Nolan and director Zach Snyder set about to find the man who would be their Superman, they cast a wide net, reeling in “Immortals” actor Henry Cavill all the way from England.
Herbert Chavez, a 35-year old Filipino pageant trainer, has since 1995 undergone a whole host of surgeries to make him more closely resemble the Man of Steel. According to a RealSelf.com translation of a news report out of the Philippines, he has admitted to a nose job, chin augmentation – for that iconic cleft, silicone lip injections and, of course, thigh implants.
The news report speculates that he has Body Dysmorphic Disorder, which makes him compulsively undergo plastic surgery. Whether or not that’s true, he is clearly obsessed with the man of steel; a peek inside his home reveals a shrine to the hero, with everything from bedding to wall decorations to actual, larger than life statues of the hero taking up an entire room.
From people who are in love with FPS games, I have heard it is too slow…
I tend to like RPG’s much more than shooters. One reason I liked Fallout 3 so much is that the VATS combat covered up my shitty FPS skills.

GTA IV sucked all around to me so don’t base it on that
I tend to go after free roaming sand box games. GTA san andreas is still one of the better overall gaming experiences I have played.
I am not sure how to describe my feelings about GTA IV. I just didn’t care about any of the characters. It was much more “serous” than the other GTA games, but I never felt involved. Whomever decided that weird “friendship” missions, “get so and so to a tittty bar in 30 min or less…GO”, was a good idea should be given walking papers.
San Andreas was a lot more enjoyable in my opinion. Actually liked the lead, you could alter his appearence more, and his associates were MUCH less annoying.
Well that was quick looks like Marvel is already bringing back the Winter Soldier, Bucky Barnes Junior Cap after they killed him off in Fear Itself. Any comic nerd remember when it was a huge deal to bring a character back? I remember when X-Factor was starting and they brought back Jean Grey it had been years since her “death” now it’s like 6 months and bam a character comes back
Shit man. So many of the recent SINGLE player games released within the last 2-4 years that don’t have ANY multiplayer can usually be beat in 10 hours or so…then they’ll release 10 $15 DLC’s later on to add content even though you paid $60 for the game to begin with; it’s robbery. That’s why games like Dark Souls, fallout series and Skyrim are so refreshing in my eyes…they have true value.
I find the 6-16 hour games refreshing. There are so many games out there that are 40+ hours (e.g. Assassins Creed X, Mass Effect X, every Sandbox game ever made, every JRPG ever made) that it’s nice to sit down and know that I’ll complete the story in 2-4 days. I could easily complete Arkham Asylum in 6-8 hours as a little preview or refresher before starting Arkham City. I would have to set a side 2-3 weeks to replay Mass Effect 1 & 2 before starting 3.
Another example, I’m riding around the wild west in Red Dead Redemption picking daisies and other flowers so I can get a spiffy new hat and coat. Then some asshat at Rockstar decides it would be funny to make the next requirement, “collect 2 of everything in the whole fucking game that you already collected 10 of, and no you don’t get a checklist.” That shit will make me put Red Dead back in the drawer and pull out Vanquish or Enslaved real quick.
The longer games are more guilty of releasing DLC packs than the short games.
40 hour games
Red Dead Redemption - 4 DLC packs
Fallout 3 - 5 DLCs
Mass Effect 1 - 2 DLCs
Mass Effect 2 - 7 DLCs
Borderlands - 4 DLCs
Most of the games I buy and play are variable. Like GOW 3 yes it was probably about 10 hours or so, but had no complaints. I tend to like the sand box games, cause I suck at online, I mean I try but I just do not have the time to spend getting better.
Kid who works for me got Dark Souls on my recommendation, says its down right fucking evil how this game is going to be. I warned him going into though. I would pick that up if I ever break my neck or back and I am bed ridden for a month or so.
Ha! I’m the same. My kill death ratio in Halo is just below that of a retarded chimpanzee. I still enjoy the PvP multiplayer, but I’m not gonna dedicate a whole lot of time to getting better at it. I really dig online Co-Op modes. Left 4 Dead, Gears of War, Halo etc… I love all those Co-Op campaigns. Plus I can chat with my brother or old college buddies during a campaign which is way more fun than calling them on the cell phone.

They basically did the same thing with Batman and Captain America. Killed them off. Then immediately started a series to bring them back. The shit I hate is killing off a character just to replace him immediately. Firestorm, Blue Beetle, Batman, Captain America all had somebody else wearing their costumes before rigor mortise had set in.
I don’t get the hype for Battlefield 3. I played the Beta online on the PSN and I just flat out suck. I’m not sure how I keep dying, but I think it’s from snipers. I’m very impatient and would rather run and gun. Anybody else play it yet?

I was hype to get Battlefield 3 but after playing the beta I leaning towards getting MW3. The hit detection on the beta is wonky at best and personally I can’t really tell who’s my enemy most of the time.
You might be like me though and just used to CoD type of gameplay (hit markers, run & gun is a viable option, ect).

I’m not criticizing DLC. I love DLC packs. Plus they are completely voluntary. Nobody forces you to buy them.
I’m unwilling to spend $60 of my hard earned cash on something I can beat over the weekend. I no longer purchase games before I can read a review to find out how long they typically take to beat unless it’s something I have complete faith in, like Skyrim.
I also should have been more clear since I was ranting in my previous post. My disdain is toward two entities, whether they’re within the same game or not: 1. $60 games lacking in total content/length and 2. DLC’s in general.
