Mine does just hold down the middle button and it turns it on.
So the PS3 controller does. I’ll use it as my remote for watching movies. I guess it didn’t right out of the box because it hadn’t been charged up.

I dont think the light shows but it does charge.
I dont have banana hands so the controller has never been a problem for me.

I might be persuaded to get Gears 3 (or any other upcoming game) if we can get a decent group together on a somewhat regular basis.

Diablo III is the one I’m waiting for. I just bought a new PC, partially because the release date is approaching. I know it hasn’t been announced, but the game is in external beta as of Sept 7. (I also was using an 8-yr old PC… and it was no longer upgradeable… IDE cables, printer ports, no USB ports, could not read SD-HC cards from my camera, etc.)
With the online store for items that Blizzard is implementing, the game will be extremely light on grinding for rarez, and on the type of player-personality which lends itself to grinding (rude little kids with no lives and an inexhaustible vocabulary of swear words). If Blizzard nails it, it’ll be the perfect casual RPG for busy gamers whose main constraint isn’t money, but rather time.
I look forward to playing 2-3 hrs a week with my equally busy buddies

I doubt I will be upgrading to rent Blu-Ray and video games but it’s nice to have the option to get everything from one location.
