Geek S**T The SIXTH

The only real issue I had with X-Men: First Class was that they insisted on making it a prequel. They should have cut all ties with the previous movies and given Matthew Vaughan complete freedom to do what he wanted to.

That cameo points to a fear of alienating the non-geek contingent…and seems like protect placement for the ‘other’ movie…

Following dubious continuity from the previous X-movies is going to make things difficult…It’s like going back to do a direct prequel to Tim Burton’s Batman after Batman & Robin.

Oh, and Darwin was wasted. Other than that, great movie.

Darwin is where my real complaint lies as well. You have a guy who can adapt to ANY environment…so the how hell do you blow him up? He could breath in space, right?

If anything, I could see him turning to metal or stone after the blast and them putting him in storage until he returns to normal…but to blow up???

I am tired of the black dude having to die in every movie like this. If it’s 4 while girls and a black dude in a scary house, you don’t even need to flip a coin to see whose head will be rolling down the stairs in 10min.
After I left the movie, I did consider the possibility that Darwin’s ‘death’ was just him adapting to Shaw’s energy blast - like he adapted to the energy by becoming it, and could make a return.

Then I realized I was giving Fox far too much credit, and that if they hadn’t killed him outright they would’ve hinted at it. So yeah, Darwin in this = black redshirt.

Just a heads up…if y’all aren’t watching Thundercats, you are missing out.

They are really trying to advance the story this time.
Where is this available?
I’ve been buying the episodes off the Playstation network. I would say it is worth it. This is about as well as they could have done to bring this series back to life…and they are doing it in a way that will keep the people who grew up with it interested.

From the way they are going with the story, the potential here is on the level of Star Wars if they ever made a movie of it.
I’m still trying to figure out if its a new story all together a dif generation of thundercats. Also X just likes it becuase he looks like the “PANTHRO” in the new series
Also, the voice of Grune The Destroyer is the same guy who did Lex Luthor’s voice on Justice League and in their animated movies. He does a great job as well.

I used to love the show as a kid. Where are you watching the new series?

Out of all the games coming out this fall, which one (if you had to pick only one) would you pre-order and why?

The 3 games I really want, and will get at some point, are: Arkham City, UC3, and BF3.

I’m leaning toward pre-ordering Arkham City, although my usual rule is never pay more than $40 for a game, and the best pre-order deal I’ve seen on it is $48. I got a hold of the Arkham City comics (reading them on my HP Touchpad = awesome) and while I know they were only put out to hype up the game, they still made me want to game even more.

I’m sure I’ll get MW3 at some point, but I am kinda burnt out on COD right now. I’ll probably also get Rage and RE:Operation Racoon City at some point in time, but probably not right away since I have a huge back log of games I own and still haven’t played.
For me it would be between BF3 and Skyrim just because of the sheer number of hours of gameplay they will both be able to provide.

In the end though, BF3 will probably take the cake since multiplayer yields more replayability even though if Skyrim is as big as they’re saying it is, will probably require 50 hours invested.

I wouldn’t have felt this way had I not been able to participate in the alpha. It is literally the best/most exciting “war/fps” game I have ever played and as soon as the alpha closed, I immediately pre-ordered the game.

In order, upcoming games would be. BF3, skyrim, arkham city, saints row 3/rage (tied), uncharted 3, mass effect 3, dark souls (would be higher up, but I’ve heard it’s going to be more difficult than demon souls and I’ve never played a game that was so hard, that every 10 minutes I wanted to yell FUCK THIS, throw my controller at my TV and go punch a kitten), diablo 3, racoon city, bioshock infinite, borderlands 2.

That’s Clancy Motherfucking Brown the most badass actor on the planet He was the Kurgan in Highlander, the gaurd in Shawshank, and the voice of the fear entity in Green Lantern (ok so two out of three)

Can’t wait for this DC does animation so much better than Marvel

And another reason to go see “Cowboys & Aliens.” He plays an excellent tough as nails cowboy preacher. He was also the spawn of Satan in “Carnivale.” If that’s not acting range I don’t know what is.

So…I just bought a PS3. I picked up Uncharted 2, Hi-def PS3 revisions of God Of War I & II, and God of War 3. What other PS3 exclusives should I be playing?

If I want to play Infamous II, is it worth picking up the first Infamous game?

This is the future, guys: Windows 8.

It’s going to be one operating system that runs on every single for factor (Desktops, Laptops, Tablets, TV’s) and this is going to be the boldest software development Microsoft has made… ever.

Features like Xbox Live are coming to Windows 8, too. You’ll be able to pretty much use all the services that are exclusive to the Xbox on your PC, including chat, messaging and an app store that will be uniform between the 360, Windows Phones and Windows 8.

There are too many new features to list, just trust me when I say this is going to be something special.

Man that is a shit ton of hours to finish those games.

I would say yes on the Infamous question.

I was disappoint with Cowboys & Aliens. I gave my opinion in Wol’s Conan movie thread so I’ll leave it at that. Clancy Brown’s performance was definitely one of the high points though. One of those actors who always delivers…

I’ve got so many games piled up in my game play que I won’t have to buy an Xbox 720 (unless Halo 5 is launched) or the PS4 until well after the first price drop.

Cool. I’ll pick up Infamous down the road a bit, then the price drop for Infamous II should hit by the time I finish the first game.

Both Infamous games were nice. The second one just did it better. I doubt I would have appreciated the second one as much without playing the first one.

Demon Souls and the metal gear solid games.

True. He always delivers a great performance, whether it be live action or animated or whatever. His acting is great even if not every movie he’s in has been a winner.

Note to self:
Roybot would not know a good movie if it came up and dick slapped him.

be ready to commit suicide after playing demon souls…

the game is beautifully done but its hard as shit and has no check points to respawn from… when u die u come back in soul form and u have 0 equipment u have to go back to ure “bloodstain” (body) to get all ure equip back… also the monsters u killed from before respawn so there’s no “clearing” of an area or a world… also when u die u start from the beginning of the stage so if u die near the boss… yes that means u have to run to ure body through enemies in order to get ure gear then fight the boss… there’s a few “cheap” ways around it but the game itself is hard as fuck…

Whatever lets you sleep at night  You should read my review of the movie that takes into account the last minute switcharoo of leading men, which lead to a weak script:

Would make a decent rental, but doesn’t stand up to repeated viewings and not worth the price of admission. Could and should have been much better. Harsh but fair.
