I haven’t seen USB 3.0 - I’ll check it out!

I’m on it. I’m watching it later today after I give blood. It doesn’t say anything about different viewing options, but I’ll check into it. I do know that Under The Hood is on a separate disk. It also comes with the Motion Comic on another disk as well.

I’ll post my thoughts after I’m done watching it.

DA is sick, I just finished my first playthrough last night(2h warrior main, Alistair, Morrigan, Wynne as my party most the time) so that should give a general idea of how bad I nerded out when I got it. I’ll wait until some more of you near end game to really discuss it a lot, there’s a few things that disappointed me but overall I loved it, and of course I need to play it like 3 more times to achievement whore =p

I find myself lacking time to play DA and instead opting to play an hour or so of CoD MW2 since I typically only have 1-2 hours to play games at a time.

And I got sucked into watching Dexter like all weekend instant streaming on the PS3. Lol

Okay, so there aren’t any different viewing options. In fact, it’s one of the few Blu-Rays I own where you aren’t presented with a menu after inserting the disk. It just starts playing the movie (which I like). It’s about three and a half hours long now with The Black Freighter added in. Overall, I think adding “Freighter” back in makes the story more accurately resemble the graphical novel, but I think in the context of the movie itself, it breaks the story up too much. If someone was watching Watchmen for the first time (especially if they were unfamiliar with the story), I wouldn’t let them watch this version first. They’d get confused.

I didn’t have time to watch the other features, but most of those have been available separately for a while.

For you computer geeks out there.

Gigabyte is shipping it’s new X58A-UD7 boards in January 2010 - just when I’m planning to start my new PC build.

They will feature the new USB 3.0 ports which are to be up to 10x faster than current USB 2.0 technology. Sata 3.0 will also be on these boards, supposedly.

I’m geeking out here. Expect photos when I build it.

I am pretty sure USB 3.0 is NOT out yet, and in fact was supposed to be delayed until 2011 for the Intel mobo chipsets. USB 3.0 may be available by way of a daughter card but it is not built into any device from what I understand.

You have some of the best geek analysis when it comes to games and shows/movies. Why don’t we start a web site where I dress up as a butler and bring you Bugles and the latest game/movie on a silver platter, and you review them for the masses?

I need a PS3 Slim. Am breaking down here…

By the way, Vader:

My SINCERE condolences. I heard they cancelled Dollhouse. First Firefly, then TSCC then Dollhouse? Fox has a death wish for Joss Wheadon.

Their 1156 FSB boards are already sporting the USB 3.0 ports, and available to buy. Not sure of any devices, but hey, that’s future-proofing right there.

I’m waiting for them to implement them into the X58 range - and believe them to start shipping in Jan.

Lets work on that when we have some time. I’ve been kicking around some ideas like that for a while now.

I’m not too upset about Dollhouse. I just wasn’t into it. Dushku is hot, but she can’t carry a show on her own. Her acting is terrible and on a show that requires her to play a different character every week, it really makes the show hard to watch for me.

It was a good idea in concept, but I just didn’t feel like it was all that interesting to watch. I think Fox did meddle with the show a little too much though. I think Dollhouse would have been awesome if it had been on Showtime or HBO. Then they really could have pushed it with the morality of the show, and more importantly, NUDITY!!!

Damn, I was usurped.

What you should do is grab two Intel X25 80 GB drives (make sure they are second gen so they support TRIM) and RAID 0 them and ONLY use the RAID array for apps, OS. The rumor is that Kingston will release rebranded Intel drives for significantly less, so be on the lookout.

You will literally start your computer several times a day while opening up as many apps as possible during the OS load to see if you can slow down your system. That will become a game in itself for you. RAID 0 with SSDs is that fast.

Note: Only the Intel X25 SSDs have serious RANDOM read/write performance, which is the only true performance figure that matters. The next fastest SSDs are OCZ Vertex II, which are still significantly faster than a WD 15k rpm Raptor drive.

I may do this next year when I build a Hackintosh.

Agreed on all counts. I bought the first season on dvd and liked it to a degree, but if she could really act, the show would have been several times better.

I want Fringe to last. I finished the season have to give credit for diving right into alternate universes without being really cheesy about it.

It was just really inconsistent and uneven (this season especially). They would run an episode where you’d think, “Okay, this is getting good”, but then they’d follow it up with episodes that just went nowhere.

I really hope Fox doesn’t give up on Fringe. I think it would do really well if they just moved it back to Monday or Tuesday. I still don’t understand that decision. It was doing just fine on Tuesday, but then they decide to move it to a heavily saturated night with tons of longer running and well established shows. Then they said there was a dip in the ratings. They’ve have to be complete idiots over there to not understand why.

So Assassins Creed drops tomorrow but sadly Im have to wait as im still playing Tekken 6 Dragon Age and MW2 is dominating my life.

In other News, MW2 recalled in Russia. Big suprise there and the PS3 fights crime…4,000,000 passwords a sec, sweet jeebus

I just finished Dollhouse season 1, and really enjoyed it. Of course watching all 13 episodes in a week means they don’t have a whole lot of time to sit and marinade.

Network television only seems capable of supporting hospital dramas and crime scene shows. The major networks’ constant meddling and middle-of-the-road politics tend to dilute any messages or controversies a show may try to convey. I think anybody with an original show concept needs to take a couple pages from the Japanese anime playbook. Produce the 13 or so episodes as if they were parts of one long continuous narrative. Make it and then sell the whole package to the Networks. Tell a story with a beginning, middle, and an end. Stop trying to build empires with every show. Sudden cancellations of shows like Firefly, Sara Connor Chronicles, and now Dollhouse just leave the target audience jaded and suspicious. I pretty much just wait for the shows to come out on DVD and then watch over the course of a week rather than be strung along by some cock tease for several months.

You make another good point. After watching shows like Weeds, Dexter, True Blood, and Californication it’s hard to go back and watch the Big 4 networks. Everything seems a bit bland and conservative as if they purposely try to avoid stirring up any form of controversy or debate. And yes, every show is better with bare, beautiful breasts.

Thanks for the review.

Between HBO, On Demand, and Netfilx I haven’t had much reason to buy movies on DVD. I was hoping to have the option of watching “The Watchmen” with or without “The Black Freighter” spliced in.

And lets face it, a show like Dollhouse just screams gratuitous nudity. Hell, TSCC would have been awesome with some nudity as well.

Actually, I think about both of those shows being on one of the pay channels and it makes me a little sad. They would have been pretty awesome on those channels. They likely would have had better budgets and not gotten the axe so quickly. Oh well…

I do think that once Season Two of Dollhouse comes out on DVD, I think I’m going to watch the entire series from beginning to end and re-evaluate it. I have a feeling I’m going to like it much more when I watch it all in sequence and power through the two seasons over a week or two.

Reviews for Assassin’s Creed 2 are coming out. I never got around to playing the first one so I want to check this one out. But I’m barely into Dragon Age so who knows if I’ll ever get around to this one. Either way things are looking good for the game.

I hope so. They apparently are expecting record sales on this…and mine should be arriving in the next hour or so (amazon is the shit with release date delivery). My only problem is, I doubt I’ll have time to really get into it until either this weekend or next week around Thanksgiving.

Update: My first impression is this will be the next “GTA-SA” if people have any taste at all.
