That’s the sort of blasphemy that could get him tied up in a pit in someone’s basement.

…or getting hobbled, Misery-style.

There’s supposedly serious discussion about this though. Apparently, he’s never been wild about the fact that he didn’t direct ESB and ROTJ and doesn’t really feel like those are ‘his’ films (yet ESB will always remain the best of the entire saga). Plus, he’s never felt the original trilogy was ‘finished’ due to the technology not existing for much of he wanted to do. He tried to correct some of this with the Special Editions, but I’ve heard other things like he originally wanted the final battle in ROTJ to be on Coruscant, not the second Death Star. Now that he’s got the technology to do this, he wants to go back and redo all of it. This means recasting everyone, etc.

Personally, I don’t see how he’d be able to find new people that could even compare to Ford, Williams, Guinness and Fisher. Hamill is the only one that’s replaceable to me and even that is a bit of a stretch. I just think a remake would have FAIL written all over it.

Scary…

Impossible and scary…the very thought of those movies being remade is terrible.

…/sigh

I dont know what else there is to say.

Also Karen Traviss(one of the best writers to come along in a long time, for SW that is) has said 501st: An Imperial Commando Novel is going to be her last SW novel b/c they made her change elements of the story and more or less told her that none of her work is or has been cannon.

Lucas rules The SWU with an Iron fist and does not care who he pisses off and has more or less said so. If this does happen and he does remake The Holy Trilogy, the ONLY way I would watch them is if AV him self signs off on them and gives them the stamp of approval b/c I have no desire what so ever to see this done.

And I have always been a supporter of Lucas, film wouldnt be what it is w/o him but if “SW is to die with him” then I hope its long, slow and painful death.[/quote]

Its too bad he doesn’t trust the folk he has surrounded himself with to carry on the Star Wars legacy. Besides if he doesn’t bequeath the SWU to someone after his death then I see a maelstrom of legal suites being filed as major corporations try to obtain pieces of the empire for their own means.

If nothing else it will be good for a laugh. It’s not like a remake will take anything away from the original trilogy. It seems to me that just about anyone that makes a SW product, be it film, game or book, can do a better job of it than Lucas. Be that as it may, it’s still his baby and he can do what he likes with it.

… however what Stephen King did with the last 3 books of The Dark Tower series… aaaah, the poetic justice of “getting hobbled, Misery-style” would just be too sweet

But come to think of it, I haven’t got the foggiest idea of who I would like to see cast for a remake. It would probably be best not to go with the big names… Sean Connery as Obi-Wan anyone? Naaah, sounds cheesy as hell to me.

Perhaps if he waits long enough, Ewan McGregor can be Obi Wan.

Hell, if Hayden Christensen learns how to act, he could be Vader…

No, wait, that’ll never happen.

The thought did cross my mind that Mcgregor could play Obi-Wan. Some make up and there ya go.

I don’t know if Hayden Christensen can act or not, I only saw him in SW and I would be loathe to judge someone based on that piece of crap. Natalie Portman is not a bad actor, but in SW she sucked. Could be the same with Christensen.

Doesn’t matter anyway, you just need a tall fucker to wear the suit. It’s James Earl Jones that plays Vader

Yeah, I’ve never quite understood it myself. Sure it’s his and all, but it seems odd that he’s so closed off to outside input. I’ve heard a lot of stories from people that have worked for Lucas where they’ve said that you really have to choose your words carefully when he asks for your opinion or input on something he’s done. I guess he really doesn’t like hearing that an idea of his isn’t good and has a lot of yes men in his inner circle.

Star Trek seems to have done fine with input from others and after Roddenbury’s passing.

Lucas does have kids though, so who knows what will happen when he dies. Maybe his son decides to run with it?

He didn’t handle the criticism of episodes I-III very well. Lucas will have to learn to let someone else run with his baby. Star Wars has simply out grown the control of one man. There’s probably 100 or so novels in publication, at least 5 series of comic books, an easy dozen video games, and 3 or 4 cartoon series. I seriously doubt all the companies that have been involved in bringing Star Wars to the public will just go along when Lucas decides to close up the ranch.

Plus, family has always proven to be hangers-on to the empires their fathers built. The Siegel and Shuster families still sue DC once or twice per decade over Superman royalties. If Lucas doesn’t plan for some continuation beyond his own control then it will be torn apart via the legal system.

Very true. I don’t see anyone going away quietly. There’s too much money that can be made off the franchise still.

Speaking of the Siegel and Shuster families, isn’t there a suit going on at the moment with WB regarding the Superman movies? I might be confusing my Superman related lawsuits, but I’m pretty sure I’ve read a few things recently on io9.com regarding the movies.

Im sure there is but more or less whats happened is WB has lost the rights to the Origin story. They cant reference Krypton or his mother or father in movies or anything else that has to do with Sups birth and coming to earth. Not that it really matters b/c e/o has been beaten to death with it to begin with.

Meh.

That first camera angle of him on a tower is a huge rip off of Assassins Creed, which I think would make a much better movie in a similar style.

Disney? Really?

Assassin’s creed 2 lineage part 1 (part 2 has yet to be released) - short movie from the producers of the game.

Came across these yesterday, has anyone heard of them or used a pair. Looks like a great product.

Likewise, I did mine earlier this week - You got me hooked on the first one X.

The sequel looks bad-ass.

This is the only game I know of that literally tries to let you experience what it might have been like walking around during that time period.

As they advance with AI, it will be cool as hell to see how realistic they can make games like this.

The basic concept is straight sci fi heaven as well. If we could experience any past time period that one of our ancestors had lived through as if it were happening now, half of the populations’ heads would explode.

Im glad they addressed the monotony of the first game. While story and assassins were fun everything else was a bore mainly the missions to get the assassinations just made it awfully boring.
