This probably felt harder than 250 lbs would have.
The bar path was circular. Down-left-up-right. I did so many reps because I thought I didn’t tuck my right shoulder well enough. After my last ditch effort I knew something was up. Plus, left chesticle was getting angry.
Not sure what kind of pet emergency you had, but hopefully everything is ok?
Yep all good, my one cat was potentially exposed to Easter Lilies (a fleck of pollen can cause acute kidney failure and death) so we had to go through the full ER vet/poison control routine and she had to stay at the vet for a few days. Just got her home today and she’s doing great - all signs point to her not actually ingesting any. Luckily we have insurance on our pets after getting burned once so not super financially burdening either.
That’s good. My dog slowing down a lot, so at one point I’m sure I’ll have some sort of emergency myself. He’s still healthy, but he’s just…getting old.
That’s a tough situation man, I feel for you. Not sure if you have kids, but we don’t and our pets are our kids. We joke that Wilma, the older cat, was my wife’s actual engagement present and that the ring was just a formality. Our cats are young-ish (6 & 7) and the one that had the ordeal this weekend has been super healthy. The 7-year-old was on death’s door with pemphigus (auto-immune disease that attacks the skin) for a month, but we figured out she’s totally resistant to prednisone. Swapped to a different steroid and added chemo and she made a full recovery. Still on chemo and can’t be in direct sunlight but she’s alive and kicking and you’d never know what happened. I think she’s been in remission for 4 years as of this summer.
Yeah we have a toddler. I don’t view my pets as kids, but they are absolutely part of our family. My cat and my dog both are great friends with my son, and they do mean a lot to us. Good to hear about your cat’s recovery
2.05 mile run in 18:10. Switched to Map My Run for more accurate mapping and am upset my pace isn’t as good as I thought it was. But I never had to stop actually running and my second mile was faster than my first.

My back and hips were very tender today after running 2 miles and golfing 9 holes yesterday, so I thought to try semi-sumo. Really enjoyed it and felt like my whole body contributed to the lift. Back and hips held up great too. Assistance was good, DB bench was really painful though.
On a side note, I’ve been doing oblique chops for awhile and was hoping they would translate into a little extra distance and stability when golfing. Last night was my first serious round of the year and I can say, without a doubt, the chops help. I was 1 club longer for every shot (highlights were a 200 yard 8-iron and a 162 yard PW) and was nowhere near as squirrelly when the ball was in an odd lie. I’ve been golfing in this league since I was 15 and the running joke of the night was that it took 9 years of lifting to get my body to catch up with my forearms in size/strength…

Struggled with motivation and energy today but got my shit done and got outta there.
The key to progress, man; consistency. Great job in here.
My inner monologue has to scream this sometimes but I’m doing my best to stick to it. Hope all’s well with you dude \m/

Hey man, sorry I only saw this now. Sorry for your loss bud. I hope you’re doing better now
Hey thanks man I appreciate it. Yes, doing better now finally. Struggled for awhile between loss, world events, and just my emotional state totally running away from me. But got it under control and have been really doing well for a few weeks now. Hope all’s well with you - congrats on breaking 315!!

4 x 400m runs with near-full recovery. Time: 15:00
Why? Because I need to quit being a chicken shit and push myself. Actually ran all of all 4 reps this time. Eventual goal is to knock it down to around 13:00. Distance runs make me feel good but don’t make me a better lifter. These feel fucking terrible but make me better. So I’ll balance the two.
