You could also add some type of intensity modifier to get the reps in. Something like RDLs or GMs for X-reps, then an easier movement like band GMs or pull-throughs for higher reps to “extend” the set.

16 x 100m uphill runs in 20:30
This distance feels good and I think it does significantly less damage to me than the 4x400. Still need to push the distance though, so maybe I need to do some at 200m to see how that feels.
What about rotating between 100, 200, 400 and 800m every time you run?
I’ve been swapping between 100 and 400, but should definitely work in some 200 and 800 runs.

Squats felt heavy and inefficient today, as has been the case lately. Still got 330 x 9, so can’t be too mad. Running has had a slight negative impact, which will probably go away as I get more used to it. I also think I widened my stance too much and my body had to fight itself. Sort of got the groove on the last set or two of SSL. Assistance was good but tough, the curls just fucking kill me because my tiny, weak little biceps are…well…tiny and weak. Gonna work on that and see if my elbows are happier.
Also, I started logging nutrition Monday.

@boilerman I’ve been going through and evaluating the gear that I own for guitar - mostly amps. Decided I’m gonna try and trade some of my newer Peavey amps for the old Meridian, Mississippi made ones. Got my first old tube amp today - a Peavey Triumph Pag 60. 112 combo, 60 watts, 3 channels. Almost mint condition from GC for <300. Plugged it in as soon as I got it and now I need new pants, I’ve never played something this good.
And just to make sure this still relates to lifting, it weighs 60+ lbs so counts as a farmer’s walk to move it ![]()
I have one of these. Not sure if good at all? I got it in a trade. All I gave up was an unopened bottle of Mountain Dew.

Hell yes dude, badass find!! Really trying to find time to get back into guitar a bit more. Spent an hour noodling last night just trying to get my feet back under me.
Love the old peaveys. I bet that baby cranks
@mnben87 my dad has a backstage plus he bought back in the late 80’s I believe? Solid state 30w. The reverb doesn’t work on his anymore. His has a saturation and pre knob and my favorite thing to do when I play through it is pump those bad boys up to ten. It is SO saturated. Probably the thickest and most badass tone for slide guitar or HEAVY single note lines. Just thhiiccckkkkk.
First amp I ever owned and they go for over $100 most places now. They sound pretty good at bedroom levels but are like driving a steak knife into your ear if you go above 2-3 on the volume.
It’s really made COVID time suck less as I’ve played more. My main amps now are all Peavey made-in-Mississippi - the Triumph, an old Special 160 head I built for $50, and a mint condition Studio Pro from 2002-2004. Debating whether I’ll keep my XXL head or not, it’s pretty thin and painful at high gain settings. Saturation is weird too, it goes directly from not saturated enough (even with a tubescreamer) to flubby, fizzy mud. No in between at all.
Looks like good work man.
I have never used a peavy myself. I had a vox that i wish i never sold…now waffling between another vox or an orange once i can afford it
I’ve never owned a peavey but always wished I sprung on a 5150 or jsx when I had the chance. There was a shop in my area that was selling 5150 heads for like $700 and combos for about the same when I was in highschool. Tested them hundreds of times but just didn’t have the cash back then. Ended up with the marshall with head and cab for like $1000 senior year of HS.
Buddy owned a blue voodoo too, which was a pretty sweet amp. I haven’t had the opportunity to play through any of the ones you.own, but if the ones I’ve played are any indication of what yours are like, I’m sure they’re outstanding amps… Especially so since you upgraded with aftermarket parts.
You’re making me want to go pick up my halfstack and play it real, real loud haha
I’ve never played a Vox, but I owned an Orange practice amp for 2 weeks. Wasn’t a fan. Their tube amps are incredible though!
That woulda been a sweet deal. I’ve found them for around that price even now if I look hard enough. The JSX is supposed to be really cool too, I wanna check one out sometime.
These are on my list to at least try. I’ll probably always own Peavey (usually hate brand loyalty, but they’ve earned it), but Crate has made some good stuff over the years. There’s one for sale on Reverb for <500 right now, but I chose the Triumph instead.
I’d highly recommend it. Even at low volumes the thing sounds great IMO. If I remember correctly… three channels, different voicings on each and it just sounds sweet. Great for straightforward rock and metal stuff, and also has great cleans. The only drawback from it that I found with it was it sort of lacked any sort of character. Generic to a fault.
We recorded our EP with a rockerverb that the studio owned. It was badass! A bit fizzy but if you push the input with an OD is smooths out nicely. They also had a VHT deliverance 60, which was the best sounding amp I’ve ever played, but it just didn’t fit our style at the time unfortunately…
I must’ve mistaken the crate and peavey! You’re right, the blue voodoo is a crate amp. I was thinking of the peavey penta.
Have you ever checked out the hughes and kettner mini heads, like the tubemeister? They have a couple that look amazing and seem like they can be modded to no end too
That sounds a lot like my XXL too. Can do everything, but isn’t incredible at anything. Useful and light at least, so that’s a good thing.
Oh yeah, those are incredible. Even the Micro Terrors are super good, just can’t get them super loud. Never even thought to try VHT, but they’re outta my price range anyway. haha
Nope, I’ve been tempted (seen them on Reverb for <350) but didn’t need anything at the time. The Peavey mini heads are sweet though, I have a ValveKing MH that’s sweet. Need to try it at practice/gig volume though to see if it holds up.

Ran with the Devil - 4 x 400m in 11:30
This felt way better, I need to keep my knees bent just a little more and lower my hips when I run distance. Knees, back, and hips are way happier. Hamstrings crying.

A 1lb NY strip steak really helps with the fat and the protein. We’ve been gettting loins cut into 1" strips and freezing them, but ran out. Got fresh ones at the local butcher (same we get the frozen loins from) and they were night-and-day better. Guess we’re going fresh from now on.
I will say, my anxiety and sleep are way better with more carbs. I didn’t sleep well last night and woke up super anxious today.
Most people are unable to run with straight knees and high hips because it requires incredible hamstring strength.
How long do you rest between each run?
