@boilerman I skipped my workout yesterday to start on a new diagonal 212 cab that can be run 4 ohm (parallel), 16 ohm (series) or 8 ohm per side stereo. Got an Eminence Man O War and a Swamp Thang to try in it first. Thinking I’m really gonna make this trashy looking - oxidized hardware, galvanized pipe handle, and metal speaker grilles.

Hell yes man sounds awesome! Pics when you finish it??
The aesthetic sounds pretty cool, is it going to be 2 speakers in a 4x12 config, just without the other speakers?

Absolutely! It’s a little smaller than a 412, outside dims are 23.5 x 22 x 12. Wanted it to be light enough to carry with one hand, not sure if that’ll happen though. I tried doing dado-rabbet corners instead of butt joints but fucked them all up because I don’t have the dado blades for my saw. So now they’re really loose corner joints that are braced way beyond reason. Hoping that keeps the bass tight and doesn’t allow too much resonance from the cab.

Sounds badass man, that sounds like a really cool project to work on. What kind of wood do you use?
I really enjoy it. If I can get good enough I’d love to make it a money-making hobby. Probably need another $150 in tools but could sell handmade cabs for $300 minimum with less than $100 in materials.
For this one I used edge-glued pine for the box frame, select (non-knotty) pine for the bracing, 1/4" ply for the back, and 1/2" ply for the baffle. Will probably only have $70 or so into this not counting speakers, so I’m pretty happy about that.

Chin/pull up - 50 total reps
No SS
Push up - 25 reps
Banded triceps extensions - 30
Cardio
DB squat/clean/press - 25 lbs - 4 x 12 w/60 seconds rest
Today was a red letter workout. Everything flew and my body felt even from side-to-side. Very happy with how this went and I think doing the full 7th week deload helped me hit the ground running. The cardio was still a ball buster, though.

@boilerman I set the baffle and started drilling the mounting holes for the back of the cab today. It’s a lot of drilling…holy balls.

Damn dude that looks awesome!!!
@boilerman and @flappinit got the cab finished, just need to stain and seal. Sounds ok at house volume but is huge when cranked.

Hell yeah man sounds super clear too. Nice and crunchy!!!

Thanks! The speakers really complement each other well to fill in the sound. I’ve got the XXL set at 25 watts with the master at 9:00 and the channel volumes at 11:00 - this thing can blow doors off if need be. I can probably turn the gain down just a bit to clear it up in a mix, but for home use I’m really happy with that tone. I’ll try and get a full demo of clean-lead-ultra channels with my settings before I take it to our practice space.

SS w/ deadlift
Ab wheel - 5 x 10
SS w/ each other
TRX rows - 4 x 15, 1 x 12
Dips - 5 x 10
Cardio - 60 lbs…which was almost too much
I was distracted by my musical endeavors and didn’t totally respect the deadlift enough. I need to be better next time. Also need to find my hook grip again - I keep snagging my first two fingers on my legs and it kills my momentum. Assistance was good, rows were really tough. Cardio almost killed me.

How do you like hook grip? I have never done it seriously
It’s pretty much all I’ve done for the last 4 years at least. Mixed grip led to some nasty imbalances in my back and arms. I don’t really train grip and haven’t dropped anything yet. I do have to do a weird hook grip because I have big palms and short fingers.
Bottom line - if you do try it, play around with how you set up because it’s different for everyone.

Ya man, I would love to hear how it sounds clean.
I can’t quite remember but you pull sumo right?
Yep I pull sumo. Does wonders for keeping my back healthy. I can still end up hurting if I don’t focus, though…little twingey after today’s pulls.

Ok cool. I also have big palms and short fingers. When i had been doing conventional dl i used mixed grip, but i had switched to sumo as well and found mixed to be awkward. But with not having done any barbell work for a while now, we will see how things go when i get one again
Interesting. I always imagined sumo would be felt a lot more in the lower back than conventional for some reason.
