Hopefully you’ll snap out of it soon
I don’t know the difficulty of the trails you chose, but I would say it’s not impossible that strenuous hiking despite a week off could have an effect.
I’m snapped out now. It was a sleep issue at its root and spilled out into every other part of life for me. I stayed up til 3 last night at guys’ night and then came home and hung with my wife and her friends for a bit. By the time I went to bed I was absolutely exhausted, so I slept really well for the first time in weeks. I feel like myself now ![]()

need to remember this for next time though.
Quality sleep does tend to have that effect on people!
10/19/2020 - Squat/Bench Day

125 x 5
150 x 5
175 x 3
200 x 5
225 x 3
250 x 4
200 x 15
Squat
45 x 5

220 x 5
260 x 3
300 x 5
340 x 3
380 x 4
300 x 10
Kroc Rows
105 lbs - 40 reps/arm
I seem to have relocated my brain and scrotum now, which is good. Today wasn’t a stellar workout, but it was respectable, and I’ll be thrilled if I can say that about every workout from here to 6 feet under. Bench felt good, I can tell my coordination is still off but everything at least tried to work with me. Same with squat - I widened my stance half an ass hair and it felt a lot better. Every bit of my body worked with me. I didn’t hit 20 with 300, but I pushed it until the room darkened and my neck tried to cramp. Not dropping TM’s. Just needed actual sleep for once.
This is pretty freaking impressive my man.
Thanks! The fucked up part is it was limited by hip cramps…
10/20/2020 - Assistance Day/The Day Skynyrd Died
Worked out on my lunch break. Breakfast at 9, no other PWO. Agile 8 and 2 x 5 plyo pushups.
Circuit - 5 times through in 22 minutes
15 push ups
15 inverted rows
10 KB snatches/arm (45 lbs)
The inverted rows were hard and the KB snatches totally gassed me, but I made it. Now to get that time down a bit.
Also, it’s been 43 years since the Lynyrd Skynyrd plane crash. For whatever reason, I feel connected to that band in a way I can’t describe, and the main core being gone feels like I’m missing someone important to me. Their music has resonated with me my whole life, especially when things weren’t great. Watching Johnny VZ sing Simple Man to his brother’s empty mic was really hard, but getting to see them live before they stopped touring is definitely a highlight for me.
Man I wish I could bench that
Fixed that for you.
I’d bet you can before you’re 21, worst case scenario. You started lifting way earlier in life than I did and you got better guidance way earlier in your lifting career.
Glad you figured it out. Hopefully that’s really the silver bullet for you. When it comes to sleep quality, consistency is really the name of the game
Thanks. Unfortunately I’ve had a bad relationship with sleep my entire life and have always had to look at it as an experiment. Solid 8 hours a night will make me anxious and give me trouble, so I have to do selective sleep deprivation to manage it ![]()

330 x 9 - stopped for left hip
Kroc rows - 105 lbs - 40 reps/arm
Overall I’d call this a good session. Still some issues, but pushed hard and nothing really hurts. Got uneven on the Widowmaker for deads, but figured that would happen. Tempted to do RDL’s instead for Widowmaker.
For what it’s worth, I think that’s a good call. I fully intend to use RDLs or some other variation for all my deadlift supplemental work next year.
What’s your plan for your TM? Take 75% of your full-range DL TM or are you going to do a TM test for your RDL? Almost went for it today but just stuck with full-range deads. Shouldn’t have.
I’ll estimate a TM and just increase it inline with deadlift for RDLs/SLDLs. If I start getting a bit frisky and using lots of different supplemental exercises I’ll have to start guestimating but that’s pretty unlikely because I don’t have much imagination with deadlifts.
Woah that’s weird dude. Btw, do you snore a lot?
I don’t think so. I snore but wouldn’t call it abnormal. Thinking sleep apnea?
I think RDLs are very helpful for deadlifts (I used to do them a lot), but they always make me feel crippled for about a week, no matter how frequently I do them.
