Freedom of Speech

The latest issues with Kanye are bringing the “but freedom of speech” imbeciles out of the woodwork it seems.

Do people honestly understand the 1st amendment so poorly? I guess I should not be surprised as the 1st amendment is MUCH more complicated than just protecting speech. I just figured by now people would realize on a basic level it only protects you from government action and not from the private sector or society for saying dumb shit. (Even if it is technically true).

“But this is collusion! Social media should be public utilities and the government is directing them, so it is a violation! The collusion should be punished. They can’t all get together and do this over true things he said.”

Uhhhh actually, yes - yes they can. They have the freedom to decide whom they want to do business with as long as it isn’t based on an unlawful enumerated discriminatory reason.

Besides that, the idiots who say they are for free speech so don’t they think Twitter, for example, should ban anyone for anything they say haven’t thought it through.

If Twitter had zero moderation it would become a cesspool of hate and vulgarity to the point it would be worthless as a company. What the free speech people seem to not realize is that Twitter is in business to make money.

There’s an mma forum where actual fighters would post. Joe Rogan would post there as well. The trolls and douchebags drove them away as it became Stormfront light. That’s free speech for you.

This exact reason is why I never post in PWI. I had enough concussions from football, Can’t afford to lose brain cells slamming my head against a wall.

@Bauber well said, can’t do anything but agree with your statements
