Your ultimate conclusion is forced and incorrect.

Here’s the issue. I’m not someone who needs to be seen something to believe it. That’s illogical. Niether am I someone who will believe someone just because I see it. I may be jaded because of the obvious exploitation of paranormal events in movies; or rather the media in general. Shows like Ghost Hunters are totally obtuse and blatantly faked.
I may also be jaded because I allowed myself to view and discover a lot of shocking content at a young age. I was niether fascinated or excited by it, but when I watched them I felt like getting exposed to the worst things in life can have a profound outlook on the way you value your day-to-day activities. That being said, I never ‘went out’ and looked for these things, but I’m open to the concept.
However, like your post below that talks about people who have been exposed to too many things, I think that there’s a closer relation to the psyche and paranormal than people may believe. Think of voodoo. It’s supposed to be a powerful magic if performed in the hands of someone who is committed, experienced, and in complete belief of its system and practices.
That being said, I think an open mind can help to usher in extra-ordinary explanations and further determinants of an action, rather than deeper knowledge about an actual situation. People are afraid of the dark because they standards for what darkness entails and give themselves “mental expectations” about WHY darkness is sinister.
That is what I think we have here. Whether you tell Mr. Purple and he tells everyone else or not, there is still no possible way to document the reality and feasability of the information you given. And because I haven’t actually encountered anything paranormal, and know no one else who has (other than “Spooky” stories about lights flickering off,) I just can’t buy the fact that it’s real.
If someone says “I am Jesus,” I’ll say, “Okay, turn this water into wine.”
Thus… I reach my conclusion that it’s fake. Again, not that I think whatever your explanation will be is invalid, unless it’s something within the immediate parameter of our physical spectrum, I can’t be swayed into believing it without sufficient evidence. I assume you can understand the logic behind this rationale.
