I am sorry you are in the situation you are in.

Have you considered a third way? A lot of wonderful families cannot have children. Have you to thought about adoption?

Your baby could be a tremendous blessing for a couple.

Heck, I don’t know you, and have 8 daughters and need another kid like I need a hole in my head, but Mrs. J and I would adopt your child in a second. Dead serious.

You’re an outstanding man, JB - you’re definitely one of the people I look up to around here, and you’ve changed my out look on several complex topics, so thank you for that. Just wanted to put that out there, I’ve been thinking it for a while. I would aspire one day to be half the man you are.

Agreed.
I have to agree as well, JB is one of a handful of posters on this forum that I will take time out to read even if Im not interested in the topic at hand. I havent had too much interaction with you JB but when you post, I read.

x3 One of the few people on here who has seen some shit that we will never even comprehend.

Thats a nightmare I did not know I had until, like, 30 seconds ago…
How ironic it would be for you to have to train your little girls how not to be influenced by PUA tricks.
What I would tell them is that they indeed could be influenced by those tricks and that a ?°"good" woman does not frequent venues where the top dogs are douchebags.

I really do believe that this is the major difference, hypergamy cannot be negotiated with, but who is respected very much depends on the crowd you hang out with.

So, what I would tell them is to frequent venues where the top dogs are actually decent human beings.
I quite agree with this and also with its reverse - if you want to meet a decent woman, frequent the places they congregate.
There is something to that but the difference is that men will not start to hamster away a womans multitude of flaws because she displays social dominance NO MATTER in what context, they will do that if she is hawt.

Good women may go to “venues where the top dogs are douchebags” but they do not go there to find men. Not for one night stands, not for relationships.

Maybe, but good girls will.

Maybe not specifically to find a man and get laid, it will “just happen”.

Unfortunately, now they have drunken from the poisoned well of the alpha douche.

Me too. That was an outstanding post from JB. Additionally, AC’s response was actually also a really good reply. Plus it made me laugh when he said that the world could use more of his offspring. We need Push’s gold picture for that one.

But I’m completely serious! I should auction off opportunities to be inseminated by me (none of that “artificial shit”, it’s aux natural or not at all! LOL). I produce very large, tall, handsome, strapping young men of intelligence, talent and character. My eldest is a state champion athlete, honor roll student, eagle scout, who won chess tournaments in 7th grade, competed in several national competitions and plays three musical instruments well. He also has excellent character and integrity, which I’ve molded from a young age. He’s 6’5" and looks like a blond Taylor Lautner. Bitches be on his jock! But he has a girlfriend that he’s faithful to. He’s GOOD young man. My youngest is seven, weighs 89lbs and is nearly 5’ tall (He’s often mistaken for being 11 or 12). He’s built like a brick shit house and is STRONG AS FUCK. He has a natural jump shot for basketball - perfect follow through. His nickname is BamBam… He’s a bit of an asshole when it comes to authority, but that’s just because he’s 7 and hasn’t reached the age of reason yet (and he’s alpha as fuck). He’s a very sweet boy and exhibits natural leadership tendencies, while being very outgoing and friendly to everyone, and he flirts with every pretty girl he meets - regardless of her age. He has a natural love of animals and right now wants to be a veterinarian. Both of them are fucking awesome and are destined for great things. So, like I said, the world COULD indeed use more of my DNA… LOL

AC - It made me laugh because it was cool (I admire that kind of confidence a lot) not because I disagreed
You described your sons before. Sounds like they’re great kids and you seem like a great dad.

I think it’s interesting in this thread to see people from such diverse backgrounds all agreeing abortion is wrong. Push is Christian (I think), JB is Jewish, I’m atheist and I think AC is atheist too, but maybe just simply not religious, and we all agree abortion is wrong.

Not that I disagree about it being wrong as I had the same switch in opinion from when I was a punk kid, but there is something that always makes me wonder.

My wife works in the justice system, and she estimates just over half of her caseload are to some degree affected by fetal alcohol syndrome, and almost all of them her repeat clients had an extremely messed up childhood. Given that an astonishing % of criminals ended up that way because of their parents, what can a society do to prevent irresponsible shitheads from producing more messed up kids who will perpetuate the problem?

I mean, adoption is great, but at some point decent people will reach the limit of kids they can handle. Our foster system is being overwhelmed, with bad apples slipping through because they need places to put kids and they aren’t as bad as the homes the kids were taken from. And let’s face it, most people looking to adopt don’t want and aren’t capable of taking on a disabled or emotionally troubled kid.

I don’t like the idea of the government getting into licensing who can have kids, or forced sterilization, but sometimes the stories I hear from my wife or in the news makes me wonder if it isn’t worth a test run.

I can’t get on board with the idea of executing kids for the crimes they might commit.

I am down with the idea of licensing and forced sterilization. Especially mandatory contraception for anyone on welfare is a great idea.
on edge wrote:

I’m against forced sterilization for all types of reasons, but I think voluntary sterilization could be offered to men and women who receive public services for a certain minimum amount of time.

What about cases where they don’t want sterilization?

It is probably a very small minority, but there are those who have no means of caring for kids (whatever the reason) who would not volunteer (again, for any number of reasons?

Based on some of the losers I knew when I was younger, I am betting that there would be more than a few who couldn’t be bothered to go to a clinic. Hell, some of them ended up in jail cause they couldn’t be bothered to see their probation officer once a month.

I agree but for the sake of argument let me reframe it and play devils advocate.

What if doctors said the kid would be horribly disabled. We are talking wheelchair, constant pain, mental development of a two year old, the works. Are we doing that kid a favor?

There was a case that went to the supreme court of Canada a while ago, where they ruled that a glue sniffing prostitute who was five months pregnant could not be forced into treatment. She already had 4 or 5 kids, some of which were severely disabled.

Again, I agree, but its cases like those that make me doubt how committed I am to it.

Edit - that was supposed to be a reply to On Edge

To be clear, I’m mostly joking about this. It’s more fantasy than anything. If I was in charge I probably wouldn’t even outlaw abortion or anything like that. I’d be tempted but as dictator I would restrain myself. I’m not a big fan of imposing my beliefs on others.

I am always really encouraged to see secular arguments against abortion. I happen to believe in God and I also happen to be against abortion. However I am not against abortion because I believe. I am against it because I am a dad and my kid was my kid from the moment of conception, period. Anything that caused my wife lose the baby would have killed my kid, and I’m against that. No faith required.

It’s kind of a taboo subject. If you have a problem with abortion, people shout you down as some rabid, clinic bombing religious nut job . So, yeah, nice to see some people from the atheist/agnostic crowd raising some, IMO, basic, obvious, common sense objections without all the shrill rhetoric.

I don’t know how to think about abortions because clearly society doesn’t know how to think about abortions.

A woman chooses to abort a fetus? It’s ok because the woman is free to choose what to do with her body (with this comes the implicit agreement that the fetus doesn’t factor into anything, and legally doesn’t exist).

But someone killed a pregnant woman? GASP! YOU KILLED A BABY. YOU MONSTER@#$!%@#%@

Also, BAM, DOUBLE HOMICIDE. BECAUSE THE FETUS SUDDENLY HAS LEGAL RIGHTS TOO.

Also, a pregnant woman suffers an accident that causes her to abort the child? Her pregnancy matters because the fetus suddenly matters. Everything says “pregnant woman” this and “pregnant woman” that.

I mean… wtf?

You can’t have it both ways guys. Choose something that makes fucking sense.
