I believe their ultimate purpose is to leave a stagnant trail of ugliness everywhere they go while watching forum members eventually turn on each other in an attempt to re-establish the peace.
Haha, yes let’s attack each other in an attempt to re-establish peace. Hurray for Canadian trolls!
This is true! That’s what happened to us on another forum only because we didn’t have any moderators over there but now we do.
So the playing field was left wide open for trolls to register, create a shit thread, or disturb a great topic thread. Then most of us would jump in, defend the person the troll was trying to attack. However, in the attempt to get everything back to normal on the board, a lot of cattiness came out towards eachother and I’m sure that’s what the troll wanted to see.
These people definitely leave a sourness on the board. And I agree with Mufasa who indicated that there are different levels of trolls. I believe that’s what you said right Mufasa?
Then there’s the regular hi-jacking shit disturbers who throw their lame-ass comments into some great topic threads. They have nothing creative or intelligent to contribute whatsoever.
Is it neccesarily a bad thing for hidden cattiness and disagreement to come out?
I know this is a bit of an unusual take on it, but, I never much like how some people put on socialable fronts. If you feel a certain way, why not respectfully admit it? Doesn’t mean you have to go about calling one a bitch or a bastard, but, if you hate someone’s guts for some reason, then why not admit it?
I don’t think this troll side effect is neccesarily a bad one, though, I agree with Mufasa in that I hate when a good thread gets totally sidetracked and we lose the insight that would be gained if people would focus.[/quote]
No I don’t think it’s a bad thing to disagree. We all have opinions, good & bad. No forum can be Utopia. It’s when the hits become lower and lower and what’s the point in letting it get that far?
Sure we may all put up sociable fronts but if we’re gonna disagree on something why can’t it be with respect for eachother? But then it comes back to the Utopia scenario. Never gonna happen. big sigh
The other forum I’m referring to is the Oxygen forum. Recently there was a lot of name calling, i.e. bitch, negative bitch, f-off bitch… and it didn’t need to go that far. I’d rather not get into heated discussions or disagreements with people online. That’s just not my personality.
