oh come on if you can determine the worst zeppelin song you can determine the best. i agree zeppelin wrote way more good tunes than most but you can’t tell me with a straight face that you’re really into crap like “the crunge” or " your time is gonna come" or " hats off to roy what’s his name"…jeez i’ll even go as far as to throw “living loving maid”, “the immigrant song” and “the battle of evermore on the junk pile”. also dis-honorable mentions for “boogie with stu” and “black country woman”. there i said it.
I love ALL those songs! “The Immigrant Song” and “The Battle of Evermore”? You’ve gotta be kidding! Those are incredible songs! I will man-up though and say that when “Dyer Mak’r” comes on the radio, I ALMOST turn the channel, but then I remember its still Zep, so I pull my arm back…

haha i love d’yer mak’r ! but then i dont listen to the radio so i probably haven’t heard as much as you …
in other news the common ground for people who’ve weighed in with a top 4 or 5 seems to be “ramble on”. now we’re getting somewhere !

Favorite Zeppelin tunes in no order:
In the Evening
Lemon Song
I’m Gonna Crawl
Since I’ve Been Loving You
Battle of Evermore
The Rain Song
Trampled Under Foot
I Can’t Quit You
Achilles Last Stand
You probably notice these are fall into the epic/blues category.
i dig the rain song. at one time that was my favorite tune.
the lemon song isn’t a zeppelin tune though, it’s a cover of “the killing floor” by howlin’ wolf. they changed the name so they wouldn’t have to pay him. also in the lemon song they use a lyric from robert johnson’s tune “traveling riverside blues.”

You guys ever hear Dream Theater’s cover of Achilles Last Stand? It’s on their album A Change Of Seasons, but recorded live, I think. Same great song, but way tighter than Zepp.
It’s a hell of a lot tighter, and for me it has a lot to do with the vocals (Plant doesn’t do it for me)…but it’s too short.
I have to say, I’m not a big Zeppelin fan. I certainly respect and appreciate what they did, but that’s where I draw the line.
