Foods from India/South Asia

So a new Asian food store, specializing in India and that area, opened near me. Much to my delight I noticed they had Ghee, which is one of the foods in The 150 Healthiest Foods in the World. They had at least 30 different kinds of “rice” grains, and probably uphands of 100 different types of grains, beans, lentils, etc. in total. They have fresh spices, spice mixes, and might be my favorite place ever…

Does anyone have experience with different types of grocery foods from India for things that are particularly healthy, low GI/GL, etc?

Most Indian spice mixes contain Turmeric which is a natural pain killer. Also Indian curry is a great way to flavour up your protein, the only drawback is if you buy some of the pre-made ones they’ll use shitty oils.

Chicken curry is pretty easy to make man, tastes great and if you’re doing the AD it’s easy to load up on the fat when making it.

Also I’m not sure how good the ghee you buy will be, I think it’s only healthy if it comes from grass fed cows.

get turmeric and black pepper, and pour it in your green tea. It fucking rocks

You can make your own ghee from browning pastured butter and letting it clarify.

If I could find Pastured Butter anywhere, that would be an option… Hell, finding Lamb is hard enough, not to mention grass-fed anything.

I never buy anything other than the dry spices, due to cheap oils and sugars usually ending up in them.

If you got any Albertsons near you they should stock this. I have the same problem you do where I live, I cannot find grass fed or free ranged anything.
