Focus on the Essential

oh my goodness!!! those baby pictures are precious! they are such a cool style–very Mad Men-esque to my untrained eye

last night: 3 freakin hours of condo meeting complaining about the lack of bike racks and storage lockers. somebody shoot me. Plus our condo fee is going up because of some political B.S. My building is part of a community project and because we are the highest quality unit (which doesn’t mean much, trust me. comparing cardboard to brick) we, as a building need to fork out 40,000$ a year to the community for common fees! The only services we use is snow plow and landscaping. Fucking ridiculous. Makes me want to own a house instead.
sheesh.

anywho tonight is gym night. also I’ve been snooping on the net for some powerlifting groups in my neighborhood, inspired by others in PW who have decided to take their game to the next level.

cheers

p.s. a highschool buddy saw my photography on FB and loved it. said she would totally be psyched if I would take a few of her family. It seems that I might be onto something here. It’s nice to be recognized for doing something you enjoy so much

I have a few mommy friends who worked hard to turn there hobby(photography) into a business…GO FOR IT!!!

Thanks Mim! I’m not sure I have enought talent to turn it into a business yet (we are our worse critics) but maybe a part time pocket money thing would be nice.

There are a lot of photographers out there but if you’re just doing it as a hobby you should be able to compete well on price. Try it, you might like it, Sam I Am

You could even do fitness photos for people.

You’re pictures are very good. It’s clear you have the talent. It’s the marketing part that will determine your business success.

I think theres plenty of talent…and plenty of marketing experience(yes?) so there ya go!!

I’m with EVERYONE. Go for it on the photography. You have tons of talent and you love it. Starting slow is cool just get your feet wet making some extra dough… you’ll know when the time is right to really push for it.

Thanks for the thumbs-up everyone  this is a one step at a time thing. right now it’s all fun and learning still.

Tonight, was planning on hitting the squats right away and trying my new belt but the rack was taken so I did the following while I waited for my turn

dumbell bench press
40lbs 3x8

dumbell shoulder press
30lbs 4x5

barbell row
60lbs 3x8

Nothing to heavy to keep the energy for me squatz.

squats:
95lbs 1x5
115lbs 1x2
135lbs
135lbs - with belt at this point
145lbs - surprisingly easy
155lbs
165lbs - beltless max
175lbs +10lbs PR
180lbs +15lbs PR
185lbs!!! 2x1 + 20 lbs PR. even did it twice to convince myself.
135lbs 2x5 pretty much ATG

I luuuve ma belt! It just reminds me to keep tight, arch, shoulders back, hold breath in…all at once. Like a gentle pressure on my back.

decline crunches
25lbs plate to chest 3x12.

Supper: Halibut baked with tapenade, roasted asparagus over brown rice.

AWESOME PR N!!!

You GO girl! Tearin it UP!

Supper sounds delicious, so I’ll recommend dessert…

I’m actually going to log off and make some right now. mmm ice cream.

N. that is an awesome squat PR! Wow. You must be SO happy about that. I’ve never used my belt to squat, and now I’m curious.

Damn N, sweet PR!
No one’s gonna be calling you princess with those ego-crushing numbers.

I’m eating my proteinz icecream right now - more like sorbet but nice!

I just found a cool new snack to add to my list. Maybe an icecream maker in my future…

I’m totally psyched about my squat. Had to keep my ego in check and not push for more. I could see myself crushed under 200lbs thinking I should have stopped while I was ahead. lol.

Awesome workout! Yay for the PR!!! Protein ice cream???

check out the recipe

I made mine with chocolate protein powder (sweetened with stevia) and skimmed milk. It’s all I had in the house. Full fat would have probably made this even better.
