When exactly did you have the tendonitis?
BlackLabel wrote:

I used the wrong term. Meant tendinosis. It’s minor but painful enough for me to take a deload from pressing.

I had the pain while under load, and I get it in my posterior shoulder girdle when I do most pressing movements.

Tonight I’m doing some sleeper stretches and specific SMR stuff.

Yes, I talk to myself before sets. I have no one to shout queues at me, so I just do it myself before the set and in mind during the set. The whole queues in my mind thing doesn’t usually work. Tough to think with heavy (comparatively light) stuff on me.

Never, ever, ever cutting peanut butter out of my diet. I’ll cut the arms off of the man who tries to do it for me lol.

What he did would’ve really pissed me off. Nothing quite ruins your concentration during a set like someone bolting across the room to save you when you haven’t even started to fail.
IronAbrams wrote:

Man, I’ll be honest, it sucks. I’ll still have it periodically, but before I was having 6 tablespoons of it a day. Now I’m getting my fat from cashew butter, almond butter, butter, coconut milk, mixed nuts, egg yolks, flaxseed, fish oil, and the fat you find in meat and dairy products.
pushmepullme wrote:
I’ll be honest, initially I wasn’t very happy with him. Before, I was spotting him on some heavy sets of bench and I feel that he felt obligated to help me out if need be. I have a tendency to grind out reps, so it makes sense for someone on the outside looking in to look at me like I need a spot. I rarely miss reps, so that is just about never the case.

I don’t think it’s understood by many how difficult a deep front squat or, generally, a full range of motion lower body exercise is. The guy has a huge bench, but that’s about it.

Soon, I’ll be changing gyms to a place that is much more ‘hardcore’. Some very strong powerlifters there, one of which I’ll probably get some sessions with for coaching on my lifts. I feel like my programs are working nicely, but it’d be cool if I had a chance to get a program from him as well. We’ll see.

Thanks for stoppin’ by.

I did yell at a guy for doing that. I was warming up on back squats and pausing at certain spots. This guy sees me pausing and thinks I’m struggling, so he runs up behind me like he’s going to spot me. Like in your video, it’s pretty distracting to have someone run up to you like that in the middle of the set. I basically said, “Get the fuck away from me!” Afterwards, I told him that it was still a warm up set and that if I had needed help, I would have said “Help!” or asked him to spot me before I had started the set. Oh well…

Not that it matters, but I don’t blame you in the least for getting aggravated.

I’m going to sound like a victim in the following statement, but (fuck it) that’s not exactly my intention. I usually am too good natured toward the majority of people I meet, and I respect that you guys are a bit more willing to stick up for your situation.

It isn’t even purely a matter of concentration. I was talking to a guy who was grinding out a squat and someone came running to help spot him by grabbing one side of the bar and lifting up. I don’t trust strangers to not hurt me! 99% of the time I’m a nice Pollyanna (no lie!), but when you might fuck up my back, I’ll snarl.

I understand the people have good intentions - but the road to hell…

Figure that my posterior shoulder pain on the right side is correlated with the subscapularis issues on that same side which contributed to my pec strains. I’m going to address this by doing lots of stretching and SMR for teres minor and infraspinatus and a lot of prone internal rotations and subscapularis band movements.

I’ll just do that a few times a week. Not serious enough of an issue to do it daily. Figure after my upper body movements and some stretching daily will clear it up in time.

I fucking hate bench pressing. I am going to get much stronger at it this time around. Taking it slow this cycle, queueing myself to tear the bar apart.

Just to clarify, these are all very easy sets of bench.

I agree. Back when my pec wasn’t messed up all the time some random guy came over to me to spot on a DB bench press set. At the time I was doing 85 lbs. on a slight incline. Well, he spotted from my elbows, caused my shoulders to go off balance, and I had a pop go on in my right shoulder (the same one that is giving my trouble right now).

Bleh, this kind of stuff is why I’m changing gyms. The music, the people that don’t take this seriously, and the overall atmosphere just won’t cut it at my campus gym. My garage has a really bad set up too. :stuck_out_tongue:

Oooh, yeah, I forgot to mention that the fucking song in your video was in my head all morning.

Aaaand, now it’s back.

Ahhhhrg. LoL. Inadvertent ass-hole move by me. I should have muted that vid before uploading.

Anyways, I’ll have to do it again:

This shit is even worse.

I don’t remember what the specifics were, but it involved messing around with a 75 lbs. heavy bag, doing some overhead squats, burpees, and dumbbell swings.

I basically made it as hard as possible to pick up the bag and put it over my head in the most awkward but mechanically logical ways possible.

I also did eight pull ups, thought about resting and going for ten. Decided not to because I’m doing a strongman contest in a few weeks and I’m not going to do any overreaching or anything. Might just cut back on the pull-ups this week somewhat. We’ll see how I feel.

I’ll post more details about my plan for pwning my previous strongman performance. I have it all mapped out, just not posted.

I hope everything is going well! Thanks for stopping by my log.
