Florida vs Michigan

Maybe someday I’ll make sense of where all this Tebow Cocksucking Fest is coming from. He can run the ball, okay, so fucking what? How good of a passer is he? Oh, that’s right: Mediocre. By college ball standards, he is mediocre, why can’t people realize this? It’s almost painful to keep hearing these people that think the boy will do great in the NFL. Where will that ability to run the ball go when the opposing team’s D-line shuts him down? And when you take that away, how appealing for any coach is a QB with an average arm? Not at all.
I understand the hate of the coverage he gets, but lets be sensible. The guy - a sophomore, no less - was responsible for 40 touchdowns in the regular season. No one else has ever thrown for 20 and run for 20. He is not some kind of second rate has-been. We need to also separate appreciation for his current work from his NFL prospects.

He still needs a little work as a college quarterback, but he will need a LOT of work as an NFL quarterback. But being better at one does not make you a better person than being better at the other (although it will definitely impact your income potential).

Also, if we are going to bash him, who else at the college level is better than this kid? Perhaps there are a few quarterbacks an argument can be made for, but you will not come up with a long list of reasonable candidates.

What’s funny is that when teams in the SEC spend all season beating each other and any team can beat the other at any time, SEC fans call it a strong conference. When the same thing happens in the NFL, it’s called parity.
I agree that there is more parity in the SEC than there used to be, but for some reason parity has received a negative connotation. 12 LSUs would provide extreme parity, as would 12 Vanderbilts, but one is a better situation than the other. If you care to argue that the current parity is because the SEC has merely gotten worse, I think that will be a difficult argument, especially with a 7-2 bowl record for the SEC.

How did Michigan lose to App State?

I would suggest that Arkansas losing their coach may have had an impact on their performance, and it is obvious they were not well-prepared for that game. Just like Florida wasn’t prepared as well as Michigan was and OSU was not prepared well at all last year in the NC game.

This happens a lot in bowl games. There are many factors that go into teams’ performances at different points in the year. Unfortunately with the bowl games coming so long after the season, this is something we have to deal with more and more.
