I have been eating 1 6oz. can of tuna about 5 days a week. I’ve been hearing all sorts of crap regarding dangerously high mercury levels in fish. However, I find one article saying that it takes a shit load to reach dangerous levels and then I find another one saying it does not take much.
Does anyone hear have any better information they can give me on this, and give it to me straight up on whether I’m eating too much tuna or if it is ok?

Maybe that’s because some people have better things to do than to search all day through a million posts trying to find something related to the topic. If you don’t have any viable information than don’t bother posting.

Poor excuse, dude. I went to the top of this page, typed in mercury tuna and the following was the top listing. Quit justifying your laziness with “I’ve got better things to do”. All day my ass. An article on this very subject in 15 seconds.
I’ll post the link so you guys don’t have to spend the 15 seconds I did to find it. It’s called “The Naked Truth: Mercury and Tuna”

If you don’t like to search your going to get flamed a lot on this website. People don’t like to do research for other people. Its best to research first and then ask questions. I really don’t care if you take this as advice or not but I’m telling you this to try and help you out.

5 cans of tuna may be a bit much, but its not going to kill you. Maybe try toning it down to 2-3 a week and eat some fresh fish.[/quote]
Actually “fresh” fish likely contains more mercury then the canned tuna. The amount of mercury and other heavy metals is basically all dependent on how long the fish lived and there size. Since canned tuna is generally small/young tuna they contain less mercury.
Eat salmon. Better for you (Omega-3’s) and it tastes better. It’s a musch smaller fish so the murcury isn’t even a concern.
Be sure it’s wild caught, though. Farmed salmon’s diet is supplemented with grains so the Omega-3’s are lower and they die the meat after harvest because for some reason they don’t get near as pink.
If your worried about price, don’t fret. Deming’s Wild Alaska Salmon in a 14oz can (blue) for under $2.

Edit: This can, eaten in it’s entirety is close to 90g of protein.
