after tons of research i found why this actually happens.
first to say is that i have very low bodyfat.
bodyfat is needed for aromatase. testosteron to estradiol conversion.
while i was taking lots of, ginkgo, green tea, olive oil, chocolate and fish oil
my libido DECLINED.
why is it that when you start to live healthier, things stop working?
and you search the net for, testosterone enhancing herbs and products.
this is what happens. ALL THOSE FOODS destroy aromatase
and FISH OIL destroys E2 receptors in the cell nucleus.
so i end up with wayyy to low estrogen from low bodyfat and aromatase inhibition
and also destroyed estrogen receptors from the fish oil.
ending up with NO LIBIDO, and VERY HARD TO SET OFF and MAINTAIN erection.
why are those products benificial for others you ask?
because most people have average bodyfat and estrogen levels, sometimes slightly higher.
so lowering estrogen balances this hormone and their testosterone inproves.
ever wondered why zinc supplements work for some? because it inhibits aromatase = estrogen production.

Thats pretty interesting, i also have very low bodyfat, should i ditch the Fish oil,ZMA, olive oil start eating sticks of butter take D- Aspartic, maybe even Gasp!! use a soy protien supplement.
When I take fish oil I am usually eating 300g of protein and taking a few supplements. I noticed a major decrease in libido, I always thought maybe it was from stress and excess amount of eating. I know libido goes up and down but the effect you described was different. It lasted almost a month and keeping a pole during that period required a lot of effort.
I noticed the exact same thing a week ago! I took 2 Flameout a week ago because my joints were hurting, this whole week libido went down the drain, I was shocked. For a 21 year old to not be horny 24/7 was pretty sad. Everything returned back to normal yesterday and libido is back to normal. Morning wood was also gone during that, finally returned this morning. I had not taken any other fish oil since last week up until reading this thread. I think there is a lot of merit to this.

Wait, you took two Flameout capsules one time and think this caused a decline in your libido?
Like an abacus without beads, this doesn’t add up.

That’s the odd thing, usually I take 1 serving so 4 caps a day until I stopped recently. Decided to take a 2 last week and same thing happened, could be a million different things why I felt like that, just my own experience.

I’ve actually been sleeping better than usual over the past month.
I’m not stating that fish oil kills libido. More or less posing the question whether or not fish oil can affect people in different ways similar to other supplements.
Getting less sleep actually improves my sex drive dramatically. I’m thinking it’s a serotonin thing.
Iv been taking 10g of fish oil a day 5 days a week. On weekends I dont take any and I must say on monday morning i get wake up standing to attention. I also take 44mg of zinc weekday mornings. during the week its like a half on and weekends it full on.
God damn! I’ve been noticing the same thing. I was about to start a thread about it.My sex drive has dissapeared completely for about 2 weeks now. I started mega dosing fish oil to about 10 grams/day maybe more, 3 weeks ago. My sex drive has always been ridiculously strong and now suddenly I don’t feel the urge. I was actually thinking that the protein supp I was using was laced with deca or something.
I’ve eliminated all foods that I thought could be contributing to this but never thought of the fish oil.
Of course it may not be the fish oil. Will cut it out and update
I really doutbt fish oil is lowering your libido, what if you ate 2 pounds of fish a day would you feel the same affect.Probably don’t need to consume 10 grams a day, some wouldn’t even consider this mega dosing, but it might be more than your body needs, intense training takes a toll on your mind and body there’s only so much testosterone to go around, i guess that is a little strange to be in your 20’s and feel lower sex drive, maybe increase your saturated fat intake a bit, just a thought.

it’s all about balance!!
Hey,
Not that I’m calling you a liar, but did you have blood test confirmation?
I’ll play devils advocate, Perhaps your endogenous testosterone production for some reason or another is way down.
It’s interesting that this was posted because I have been taking 10-12g of Optimum Nutrition Fish Oil a day and I have notice the same effects. Low sex drive, when I get it up it is not rock solid as it should be at 27.
I am going to cut the fish oil out and see what happens, it has been a few days since I have taken any.
I was doing some googleing and came across a reference that about 1/5 of men have this response to fish oil.

Hi. This comment is really just suggestion/question regarding this issue. Please excuse me and put me straight if I’m off the mark. I have a mild loss of drive too, however this has also been during a cutting phase, when I have cut total cals and although aiming to reduce carbs mainly, I’ve come to the realisation that I’ve also inadvertendly considerably reduced total & sat fat intake, while increasing flax and fish oils. Could it be that I’m now lacking in saturated fat intake, and this is the real reason for loss of drive and apparent link to fish oils? I’m going to try throwing in a can of cocunut milk in replace of another meal.

I can relate here, I’m four weeks out from my show and have a severe lack of interest in sexual activity. My theory is that it stems from our body’s being in a ‘starvation mode’ – in other words, our bodies use all our energy to maintain muscle and brain power and are less inclined to procreate. This is just my theory, I didn’t notice this my last prep because I was using yohimbe. This time around, I’m not sexually active or masturbating and still not easily aroused.
Since when the hell is fucking bodybuilding.com allowed to sell Biotest supps? They only have a few things in right now. Everything else is on back order.
Be cool if someone told me what the hell is up with that.
About getting t-levels checked: Do I just go to my family doctor (never seen him before) and say “I want my testosterone levels checked”? I’ll try to check back in with you fuckers later but since I started my new job followed closely by loss of my vehicle followed also by losing all plumbing in my house I’ve been busy.
That means PM me. See if this notify button works though.
Mice need estrogen receptors for Sexual Agression (libido)
study: http://www.jstor.org/pss/2666365
fun to read actually our small brains are just like theirs…
Phytoestrogens are weak plant estrogens that interfere with the estrogen receptor, that is still available.
But this is the downside, all those plant chemicals seem to inhibit AROMATASE enzyme.
think about this, why would a plant have chemicals that inhibit aromatase?
for it’s survival from omnivores?
when you realise that estrogen is a vital hormone for reproduction in animals,
then all those plant eating animals (they have to eat LOTS of leaves for their calories) and their hormone production gets imbalanced and they can not reproduce which helps surival of the plant species.
(that was just a thought tho)
On the top of my head, I would expect fish oil to increase libido, as it has been shown to do in fat diabetics with heart disease. Since this is likely do to reparing blood flow, it isnt really applicable to people on this site.
Another thing i thought about, is that some prostaglandins derived from omega-6 fatty acids are needed for erection. A lot of omega-3’s will competively inhibit the synthesis of these, because omega-3 and -6 use the same enzyme system. By this mechanism, eating a lot of omega-3’s would make harder to get an erection. I dont know if this is the case. Shouldnt change actual libido, though, just erection.

Just an update. It’s been 3 days since I cut out the fish oil and my libido is back with a bang, horny as hell again thank god.
I cant believe how suppressive that stuff was for me. My thoughts are that the fish oil I was using (It was not Biotest’s stuff) may have had a high content of PCBs and contaminants, perhaps negatively influencing testosterone? Who knows.
All I know is that I wont be using it again.
