Well, I played in my first semi-pro hockey game this evening. I notched a goal and an assist in a VERY offensive affair which ended 9-8 in a shootout. I also had a shootout goal which I’m going to try to post here. Its just this small little league that’s relatively new, there was only 300+ fans in attendance but it was real fun nonetheless. The pay isn’t anything to write home about, but like I said its fun and I can do it while I work and go to school. Hope you like it!

Well, I donno. I guess you could call it pro since I get paid. I figure everything under the NHL and maybe their AHL affiliates is semi-pro since the mnoey isn’t exactly enough to make a living off of without another job.
junior players get payed, so i think your definition of semi-pro is a tad skewed.
What team do you play on? I’m from Nodak and I know a few guys I went to HS with who play collegiate, NHL and junior hockey… A buddy of mine played on a team near Detroit a year or two ago. I think he got a few bucks a week plus some housing assistance.

As for the “semi-pro” discussion, it’s a term commonly used to describe sports leagues (or other activities) that do pay participants but not significant enough to allow the person to use it as a sole means of making a living.

haha, I didn’t even realize I didn’t celebrate until I watched the video. Next time I’ll go by their bench and pretend my stick is a shotgun and shoot some of their players.

Modest celebration is considered classy among most Canadian hockey fans… but showboating definitely works for pissing people off!
Congrats on your new “career”! Hockey RULES! I wish they had a men’s league around here to watch.
