Has anyone had any experience with any wort removal products or procedures? I’ve noticed warts popping up on my fingers over the past few years (nowhere else) and have realized it’s time to fight these suckers. It seems as if applying salicylic acid seems to be the most common way to go, and I will likely give that a shot.
Alright, for all of you that possess that surplus of wart knowledge, now is the time to shine! Seriously, any experiences, reccomendations would be much appreaciated.
Experience? When I was in elementary school at one time I counted over 20 warts on my fingers. Then after a few yrs they all went away on their own, weird…
Putting a bandaid on a wart I’ve been told will “kill” it. Or they sell those self freeze things now.
Yeah, I’ve had one for quite a while, just on one finger.
The best thing you can do is go an a sacyllic acid regimen, and stick to it thoroughly. Before showering, use something like a pumice board to reall scrape the sucker. If it’s a big, sensitive wart, it will probably hurt, so suck it up. You want to remove as much dead skin as possible. Then, go ahead and shower, preferably with warm enough water that your wart will be kinda squishy, not as hard as it is dry. Dry off and all, and then put on sacyllic acid. Make sure it’s new, old sacyllic acid sucks nuts, it dries really weird, it’s hard to scrape off, and generally doesn’t work. Do this strictly, daily, for about a month or two, and it should be gone. Some warts take longer.
I had a bad bout of them about a year ago, and I killed them all successfully with the following regimen.
Get a container of clear nail polish-- yes, you’ll feel like a freak buying it, but go to a grocery store with self-checkout or something if you’re weird about it. Paint a double layer of the clear nail polish over the warts twice a day at least-- make SURE they’re covered. Make sure there is a border around them of polish. You’re trying to cut off their supply of moisture and oxygen, which they need to grow.
Also, whenever you think about it, dig a fingernail into the wart. Put as much pressure as you can on it. It will hurt, but suck it up because it will help kill them faster. Press hard enough to leave a line in the wart/skin after you do it. Apparently this helps your body mount an inflammatory response that will take care of the invading warts.
To summarize: clear nail polish at least twice a day, press your fingernail or other narrow but relatively blunt object into them.
The depth and diameter of the warts will determine how long they take to die. Mine, incidentally, haven’t come back at all and I have no scarring.
Ive had probably 5 or 6 over the years. If you have decent medical insurance, my suggestion would be to go see a dermatologist. Depending on how big of a wart it is, they can either burn it off or freeze it off. It’s obviously not the most pleasant experience (although the liquid nitrogen treatment isn’t bad at all), but most of the time, they’ll get it taken care of with just one treatment. So overall, it’s just much less hassle.
A regular family doctor can treat them as well, but they usually aren’t as experienced with it, and you’ll likely need another follow up visit.
Had one removed by a doctor when I was a kid. He had this pen looking thing that burned it off and went down to burn the roots too. If you just cut it off it’ll grow back unless you get the roots.
