Finger Shaking at the President

Just as a note: Obama doesn’t outrank Brewer in the state of Arizona. Technically, according to the constitution, Brewer really should outrank Obama in Arizona if anything. There is more power reserved for the state government than the fed within a States boarders.

Either way, they don’t both belong to the same organization, and Obama doesn’t outrank her in it.
Why would you even come on here to point out a hyper-technicality of this extent? Technically, you’re right, but for all practical purposes you’re wrong. Who is the most powerful political figure in the country? The President. Perhaps the way I worded my point was poor, but this sort of nitpicking attitude that fails to see the forest for the trees is ridiculous.
You were contending that it makes it worse that he outranks her. He doesn’t. You worded it almost like he is her boss. He’s not. She answers to the people of Arizona and the Arizona constitution. In no way does she answer to Obama.

You could maybe say that it’s like 2 CEOs with one CEO being from a smaller company maybe, but that comparison doesn’t work. I “got technical” because it was directly refuting a point you made.

My point is that in terms of political clout, she isn’t in the same league as the President. Technically, I never even said that Obama outranks her anyways. When I made the comment about one outranking another I was speaking in purely hypothetical terms at that point.

The reason I even brought it up in the first place is that it’s an example of a tendency to turn a remark that is oblique at best to the main point in a way that distracts from the real issue at hand. The issue with this finger-pointing thing is, well, really it’s not even an issue at all. It’s a simple moment of discord between two people that stems from who-knows-what. My original point in this thread was that this sort of thing can be turned into any sort of issue one wants to, depending on how one wants to use the “issue” to further their own biases/arguments toward or against the President or any other political figure relevant to this whole thing. And you’ve done something similar to my remark about “outranking”. It’s a non-issue that wasn’t really that material to the main thrust of my argument.

Again, in Arizona, he doesn’t have more clout. He probably has negative clout there.

If it didn’t matter, why say it. If it was worth saying, it should be worth refuting. and even if it isn’t paramount to your argument, what I was noting was pertinent to the general discussion.

I wasn’t aware I was turning the argument anywhere with what I refuted. And my comment didn’t derail the thread any more that your comment taking issue with my comment. If mine was off topic, yours was even further off topic.

I have to disagree, I believe Brewer could be facing a recall election. I know the So called Conservatives are ejaculating every where just looking at Brewer. She is not popular she is also some one’s puppet , that person is smart

In Arizona President Obama may not have the political clout that Gov. Brewer does, but across the country in general, at the federal level and most likely between himself, Brewer and other governors, the President has more political clout. He may not have more rupees to spend than Brewer does when they’re in India, but President Obama has way more dollars to spend when they’re in America.

Other than that, after taking full advantage of the comforts of retrospect I have come to realize that I’ve really just been guilty of the same nitpicky bullshit I accused you of, so I retract that entire argument because, quite frankly, it’s immaterial.

I agree that I don’t like her and that she’s probably a puppet, but I still think the people of Arizona really hate Obama.
