Finally, They get to the Business that Really Matters...

CHICAGO (MarketWatch) – Lawmakers apparently are getting ready to vote soon on a bill that would force a national major-college football playoff, replacing the current Bowl Championship Series, according to media reports.

Could someone please explain to me why our congress believes that it should have any say in such a matter? I am not defending the BCS. I simply cannot rationalize why, of all the many challenges we face, why these disconnected, egomaniac, jackasses believe that they have the right to determine such issues.

Because they have gotten away with so much over the years, why not with this?

This has been going on for decades, you have just become unsheepled.

Meaning, its not them, its you that has changed.

Because our congress has completely and utterly lost touch with the people of this nation.

Or maybe they are more in tune than we realize, and they are simply voting on what people complain about the most…hmm…

Because it does not involve the war, the economy, health care, jobs, or anything else of any remote importance.

Considering how they think it is a “living” document, it’s rather poor form of them to wipe their asses with it.

This really is a great topic to illustrate that if Congress - via what I presume must be the Commerce or General Welfare Clause - can legislate a college football playoff system it can legislate practically ANYTHING including national health care.[/quote]

Scariest part? Most Congressmen would agree with you on that 100%.

Quote from a House staffer when the USFA group was meeting with them regarding the then-being-considered Controlled Substances of Act of 2004:

“Congress can make WATER a controlled substance if it wants to.”

Congress will evaluate the BCS for antitrust violations. I am not suggesting they are right - that is just the means of doing so. And I think the actual legality, etc. is secondary - Congress merely plans on using ths threat of investigation, violation, and legislation as a Sword of Damocles to get a change in policy before any passage of any law (unconstitutional or not) is needed.

I am surprised Congress has not yet taxed stipend checks of college athletes on scholarship.
