This turned into a mess…
So I got all the tickets February 13th. I had until april 10th to pay the parking ticket and April 15th to pay the curfew trespassing ticket. So like most people I wait, and I finally go to pay the parking ticket april 5th. When I go online to pay I see that I have 2 parking tickets. The same day, but 3 minutes apart… One at 6:03 the other at 6:06. (Funny because they told me they give people a ten minute leeway…) Anyway, I call the park police and ask them what the fuck happened.
They said oh it seems they duplicated the ticket. So I’m like okay well get rid of it. They then say they cant and to contact the parking center that they outsource the tickets to. I call them and they say to call the police. So they’re going back and forth. Finally after many calls I call the parking center and they say if you would like to contest it then send a letter with the citation in the envelope. I tell them thats impossible. I was only given the one citation which I already paid, so there’s no way to even send the other citation because it was a mistake I NEVER RECEIVED IT. Then they say well as long as you give us the citation number thats good enough. Then the woman on the phone tells me wait, you must contest within 21 days of the ticket. Which its been like 40. She said we wont even look at it.
And she says to pay it, which now is late so it’s 75$. I’m like fuck that, so I drive to the parks police a half hour away and the woman goes oh youre the one thats been calling and she goes like we told you earlier just contest it and write a letter. I was like well first off, why should I waste my time for the officer’s mistake and secondly, you must contest within 21 days and its been about double. So she says hmmm ok brb.
Another woman comes back and says, Im with the tech department so I work alot with this kind of stuff. It seems to be an accidental duplicate. Ill cancel it and write a letter to you to keep incase anything happens in the future but you should be cleared. So finally thats taken care of…

They say sorry its not in our system, wait a few weeks and maybe something will arrive in the mail. Fuck that, it has to be paid by the 15th so Im not going to wait for a few weeks. So I call parks police and they say call the court and see if they got it yet. Call them today and they say, yeah we just got it in our system a few hours ago… (So realistically I only had from April 11th -April 15th to pay)
So I say okay whats the amount and shes says 250$! The officer originally told me it would be anywhere from 50-150$ so I figured it would be 150$ at the very very most, and he said depending on if anything prior has happened. Which it hasnt. So now I have to go to court at 8am tomorrow and schedule a court date to have it reduced. Such a waste of time and energy

Sounds like a total mess, but I guess you now know not to wait till the last second to do it.
