Feminization of Men
ElMono wrote:
And dont forget something else… Wether someone is manly, metro, bi or closet gay… Money gets you pussy, hot ones.

Isn’t there a relationship between being metro and your income. Doesn’t one need money to have the sharp clothes. I don’t see hard working mothers getting their nails done professionally every week. It are the pretty ones that get maintained by guys with money that do that. Who themselves probably are a lot more metro than a regular hardworking guy with a simple job.

Isn’t metro, for some people, just a status symbol for having money. A way to say that you are so well off you don’t need to work hard. And wealth in turn is an afrodisiac for women.

Of course this only counts for those men that really are loaded. For poor guys to be metro is either that they “want” to look wealthy, are girly men or are closet bis.
Yes. This is basically what I was getting at. I tend to suck at words lately.

But to add a note to this, the girl that settles down with a guy for the money will generally find herself wanting a “real man.” Time and time again women are cheating on their wealthy metro husbands with the muscular Cabana boy.

Good thread. Vulcan added some life to it.

Wait, is that Amy Wynne from trading spaces?

The big difference here is that “feminine” men are still sexually desirable to some women, but “masculine” women are universally disliked by all men.
Any woman not hot is a pig in my book, functional, genuis, or catatonic.

Feminine men are desirable to some women ONLY if they have money. I guarantee if that chic finds out the metro guy she thinks is hot, is actually a broke bitch, she will no longer find him hot.

In a sychology study, women went into a group to look at pictures of men and pick the most attractive. On their way in, a woman coming out of the test told them which guy was the hottest. That guy was chosen the majority of the time.

In the same study, men under the same circumstances did not choose the woman they were told was the hottest. They actually chose the hottest woman.

It’s both! That shouldn’t be very hard to realize. There are real biological differences between men and women. There are differences in how our brains work, and that has been documented though scientific study. Brain imaging, etc… But it is ALSO sociological. Gender IS a social construct. Men and women have real tendencies to behave differently and react to situations differently because of hard-wiring. But much of what is considered manly and masculine and feminine is a product of society. It varies from culture to culture and era to era.

That chic is hot! And so Amy Wynn from Trading Spaces. Bu I love funtional women.

Because there are certain physical attributes that most are hard-wired to find attractive. A man can be ‘feminine’ and still have a reasonably good physique. Maybe 6’0 and extremely lean at 170. Not what women on this site want to see but very lean with some minimal muscle. I doubt there are very many women who would feel any PHYSICAL attraction to guy the same height who weighed 130. There is significant hard-wiring to find a certain waist-hip ratio [.7 I believe] attractive on a woman as well as particular facial characteristics. This has been shown-cross-culturlaly and cross-generationally. Both moderately underfat and moderately overfat women with this ratio are preferred almost universally to women of ‘ideal’ weight and an angular body. There is no biological reason to be attracted to a woman with broad shoulders, big and shredded arms, thick legs and striated glutes. That doesn’t say she is fertile and good for making babies to our ancient biological brain. A woman who has the more traditional feminine attributes physically but acts in a more ‘masculine’ way can be VERY appealing. Who doesn’t like a girl they can eat pizza and drink beer with while watching the football game and she actually knows what she’s talking about but still looks smokin in a dress and is great in bed? I know I do.

WTF??? Exactly what percentage of the female population on this earth would you say are “hot”? 5% or let’s stretch it out to perhaps 1 in 10 women are hot. Do you really think 90% of us are pigs? And what is your definition of a pig?

I also watch football and laugh like a maniac at “guy humor” movies while my wife looks at me like I’m an idiot.

I read books, weep when emotionally moved, and think watching sports is a waste of time. I think playing video games is lame and that (except for its UFC coverage), SpikeTV is pathetic.

I also used to be a fighter and an officer in the military, I train hard in the weight room, I have a black belt in TKD and train BJJ.

Am I manly? Who knows? I’ll tell you what: I sure as hell don’t care whether someone considers me masculine or feminine.

Vulcanboy does make some good points. It’s hard to say what is masculine and what is feminine. Many roles are thrust onto people and there are numerous double standards.

Sexually active men are studs, sexually active women are sluts.

Women are discouraged from becoming fighters or participating in other “men’s sports.”

Still, I take exception with his arguments that men and women (as a group) are not different. Women have less testosterone - because of biology. Having less testosterone makes one less likely to want to fight and do other dumb things guys do.

I also take exception with ENGLISH MAJORS making such broad-sweeping points about biology.
I agree. I don’t weep when emotionally moved (I shut it off before I cry), but I do read alot (which some consider feminine…only the idiots of course).

Hell, now that I think about it, crying isn’t even bad, its just got to be fucking worth it.

There’s a big difference to me when a player is crying when he retires, and Lou Gehrig crying when he had to retire because he was dying. There’s terrible things that happen in this world…crying in public because of something not worth it is not something I agree with.

One can also be a man without being masculine- most guys probably aren’t masculine in the way we seem to be talking about it. Like anything else, there’s probably a bell curve to it.

And yes, as an English major, I try not to even say the word, ‘biology’, for I know nothing about it. That I can agree with.

I also don’t see the whole gender studies deal as something worth blowing time studying, especially in a weakened society like America that has life far too easy nowadays.

No. Hot=average or better in appearance. I have met girls that are less than average looking with attitudes that accentuate their looks and make them “look” better(at least to me). Conversely, I have met girls that are very physically attractive with attitudes that make them “look” like pigs. At least in my eyes, and people I know give me a hard time about not being able to look past this.

Too many times I have had this conversation:

Me: I dont like her

Friend: Why she is totally hot

Me: her attitude sucks and she is stupid

friend: But she is HOT! What’s wrong with you man?!

Personally, I am not attracted to girls solely on their looks. A girl can be totally hot, and be a pig in my book because of some tragic character flaw.

My point was that simply because a girl is wearing a tool belt, does not make her attractive. Albeit, I suck with words lately.

Note: for the purposes of the above: pig=really not attractive

Vulcan,

Whether I agree with your point of view is regardless. You have articulated your points of view very well. You have also responded to your critics with more maturity than most have responded to you. Some are acting as if you are denouncing their religion.

From your posts, I also can’t understand how some have called you a dumb college kid. I’m sure most here have changed their opinions and views as they have grown older and “wiser”. I can’t see how that would make them dumber when they were younger. As someone said earlier, school doesn’t make you smarter. Smart are smart and dumb are dumb. Period. You are obviously not dumb.

Aside from all that though, I’m going to question whether or not you are really from Canada. You spelled “color”, instead of “colour”. What gives, imposter? Of course, I’m just busting your chops.

I’m just curious what kind of women this Vulcan guy digs? Some creepy androgynous chick? Does your girlfriend wear skirts or is that not allowed because society says that’s a womans outfit?

Sorry MaloVerde…I was so busy deleting “eh” after every second sentence that I must have become overzealous.

Vulcan, I can’t believe you’re devoting your life to defending these “guys”:

Man, these guys have problems. This is a pic from the link above. And this is a quote from the link above:

“Pic of me and mah boys up in Jersey - Just hanging out right before UFC 56”

That is the most horrifying thing I have ever seen in my life.

The picture makes me want to fight…I just want to wade into the midst of them swinging angrily with no regard for human life whatsoever…is there something wrong with me or is this completely acceptable?

I can’t believe there are real human beings actually dressing/acting like that.
