To Td54, like otep said when deployment orders are given somehow there is burst in pregnancy. Also yes some do just march and follow orders but that is maybe only 10 percent. In my unit there where some many cheating husbands on single woman. These cheaters where commissioned messing around with enlisted. The women used the power of the pootang.

This thread has all the potential of the zercher so I won’t add to the madness, but that joke reminded me of this.
it amazes the hell out of me that gender issues are at a similar stage of debate as race issues oh, about last century.
not to say that we haven’t got a long way to come on race issues.
but the misconceptions people have about gender absolutely staggers me.

Let me offer an explanation as to why there may be 3 times the amount of men with an IQ over 170. IQ is something that can change drastically based on your upbringing. Someone who is put through a typical western educational system is going to score significantly higher on an IQ test than if that same person was raised in Mexico for example. Just want to clarify that certain factors can and do significantly affect IQ scores with this basic example.
Now, in western civilization, it is my opinion that women are raised differently than boys are. On average, IMO, women are not taught to overcome, persevere, and fight through the struggles and hardships in their life, at least not as much as men are ingrained with that kind of thought process. This alone can affect womens confidence which has a direct effect on test taking ability. If your confidence is blown, you have no chance of doing well at anything, especially an IQ test.
I see girls at my school day in and day out that lack the confidence and drive to do well in school. When they do bad on a test, they get really down on themselves and start believing that they aren’t smart enough to do well. The truth of the matter is, they are PLENTY smart enough to do well, they just don’t have that drive and belief in themselves. When i do bad on a test, i get pissed and make sure to study harder for the next test. I never lose confidence or belief in myself. I genuinely believe this is due to how i was raised by my parents and coaches. Specific beliefs were instilled in me that were not instilled in most girls. Instead, girls are raised and treated like they are incapable of really going for and attacking their dreams and aspirations. It’s a much looser approach for girls than it is for boys, and i believe this approach puts girls at a big disadvantage for really shining when it comes to succeeding in most anything in life, including a stupid IQ test.

About the people claiming to have an IQ of 170+…
Ninety-five percent of the population has an IQ between 70 and 130. People can claim to have an IQ above 135 but accuracy beyond that becomes very dicy, in fact the two most used tests won’t give a statistically meaningful measure above 135. The Stanford-Binet goes up to a ceiling of 148 (which is higher than the Wechsler Scales), but scores between 149 and 164 are statistically extrapolated because of small sample sizes. So, you can say there are more men with an IQ above 135 and that would be true.
As I mentioned before, there are also more men with an IQ below 70.
And there are more men in prison.
Sorry OP, I know this is a bit off topic, but your IQ stat opened the door…
If you want to hear a disturbing fact about the genders read this article.
The War on Girls
…In nature, 105 boys are born for every 100 girls. This ratio is biologically ironclad. Between 104 and 106 is the normal range, and that’s as far as the natural window goes. Any other number is the result of unnatural events.
Yet today in India there are 112 boys born for every 100 girls. In China, the number is 121 though plenty of Chinese towns are over the 150 mark. China’s and India’s populations are mammoth enough that their outlying sex ratios have skewed the global average to a biologically impossible 107. But the imbalance is not only in Asia. Azerbaijan stands at 115, Georgia at 118 and Armenia at 120.
What is causing the skewed ratio: abortion. If the male number in the sex ratio is above 106, it means that couples are having abortions when they find out the mother is carrying a girl. By Ms. Hvistendahl’s counting, there have been so many sex-selective abortions in the past three decades that 163 million girls, who by biological averages should have been born, are missing from the world. Moral horror aside, this is likely to be of very large consequence…
Something is very wrong when so many people are aborting baby girls. If you think the women’s movement is over, think again. This kind of thing makes me sick. And even more sick to know that women are frequently the decision makers in choosing to abort their female unborn. It’s just wrong on so many levels.
Now it is illegal in China to have an ultrasound to determine gender before birth. Even if the doctor knows, it is illegal for him to reveal the gender. However, a bribe will do the trick, and will get you the abortion if you want it.
And if a married couple accidentally gets pregnant a second time, they have 4 choices: abortion, adoption, pay a steep fine(rich families in China can have as many kids as they want–they just pay the fines), or if you can’t afford the bribe(…the fine), keep the kid and it will not be recognized as a Chinese citizen, nor will the parents ever be considered for a government job or public office. This child will be a political bastard of sorts.

A male with genetically average predisposition for sport will, given properly controlled circumstances (ie: not comparing untrained male to elite female athlete training specifically for a sport for 10+ years), surpass 99% of female athletes. Just as an example, the high school world record for men’s long jump is 8.18 meters and the all time women’s long jump world record is 7.52 meters and has stood since 1988. In 2010 alone, at least 31 men surpassed the women’s record that has stood for 23 years without the aid of wind. The 15-16 year old boy’s category world record also surpasses the women’s all-time record.

I honestly have to believe in this, just a little bit. Women, in the past, went to college to get their M.R.S. degree, not to get an actual degree and be successful in their own right. Women were taught to do just enough until they found a husband who would provide for them. I think this thinking still persists in culture today, to some extent. The “dream” for little girls is still to grow up, get married, and become a mom. Women who don’t do this and don’t want to do it, are still considered odd. They are almost always considered man-hating feminists. I have a friend, who is married, who doesn’t want kids. People are constantly asking “why get married if you’re not going to have kids?” and “why don’t you want kids?” Until women like my friend are still considered natural women no matter their marital status or number of kids, there will always be a stigma against them.

Ehh, I was just informing OP and others that if in fact men score a 170+ on IQ tests 30x as much as women do, it may very well be due to social factors, not genetics.
I find it amusing that when I come back here to check on this thread the biggest thing being debated is a random comment the OP made about IQ that had nothing to do with the article. That is all…

One could certainly draw conclusions about the ways that intelligence and gender/sex are viewed as a result of such a comment. I mostly found it amusing that the OP chose such an absurdly high IQ to make his point.
The percentage of the entire population that has an IQ of 170 or above is so small that it would be silly to generalize and say that because most of the individuals with that score are male, men are smarter than women, or to draw any other sort of conclusion about sex/gender and intelligence. The sample size is so small and so far to one end of the bell curve that it would be nearly impossible to make any sort of meaningful generalizations or conclusions about any population other than the 170+ IQ population.
I also thought it was kind of funny that he chose intelligence, another construct, to make a point about gender. Though I’m still not quite sure what his point was to begin with, but my issue there probably has something to do with my brain being 1/3 the size of his. ![]()

Agree with everything. Obviously his comment about IQ’s over 170 is ridiculous because that’s like .001% of the population. I’m doubting it’s even true. I think he was just trying to make his argument for why he believes men are smarter than women.
Let me know if any of this confused your pea-sized brain, i’ll try to use smaller words if necessary ![]()
