Female, Figure Comp, 5'10

Hey everybody! This is my first post to T-Nation. I’ve been reading the forums and articles a lot but am finally getting around to posting. I usually use bb.com a lot.

Anyhow, I competed in my first figure competition last Nov 21 at the NPC LackLand and placed 9th out of a ridiculous amount of girls. I only had 8 weeks to cut down from 24% and got down to 12%. Since Dec 24, 2009 I have been in bulk mode and working my carbs back up.

I use Layne Norton for both training and nutrition. I’m finally back up to 155g carbs, ~1,550 calories. We just found I’m gluten intolerant and so things should be changing dramatically with my body now that I know that!

So I started at 24%bf, 167lbs, got down to 12%, 157lbs, 137lbs lean body mass. I am currently bulking for 6 months and will compete again in August. Going for IFBB Pro, whatever it takes.

looking great

See:

From what I see though, you’re looking good and it’s good to hear that you’re bulking some more.

Wow you look great. Congrats!

You guys crack me up. If a dude would have posted pictures similar to the OP, you all would have torn him a new A-hole for not following the RMP rules for posting.

Since it is an attractive female, you all ignore all that and say, “looking hawt!”

Edit-PaddyM did provide the RMP rules link.

The kind that are listed on the “Member Rules for Rate My Physique” sticky:
Legs
Back
Front (pose)
More = better

Should prob include training info, too.

She did a front and back shot, so not an offender, just posting for clarity.

ok sorry sorry sorry!! honestly, I didn’t realize there was a protocol to posting in here sooo… here’s more details!
(I can’t give every detail of my training regime due to legal rights by Layne but here’s most of it)

Before my contest last November: (before pic in the transformation of the week)
Ht: 5’10"
Weight: 174lbs
Bf%: 24%

training: was alll over the place, didn’t follow a real routine
nutrition: I only had 8 weeks to get ready after coming off a US tour, we took my carbs down 5-10g/week, no salt or water depletion the week of contest

Contest: (in after pic)
Weight: 154 lbs
Bf%: 12%

After contest:
I went crazy for about a month, barely any training, no nutritional plan. Went nuts on the food : /

Now (started back December 24th):
Weight: 160lbs
Bf%: 18%

Doing a 6 month bulk, currently 2 months into it.

Sunday - Upper Body Power
Monday - Lower Body Power
Tuesday - HIIT, abs
Wed - Back & Chest hypertrophy, 20 min LI cardio
Thurs - Lower body hypertrophy, 20 min LI cardio
Fri - Shoulders & arms hypertrophy
Sat - HIIT, abs

For the first 6 weeks we worked up the power exercises from 55% so that now I am maxing out every week at 5 reps.

Nutrition: my carbs have been raised by 5g every week, fat stays at 30g, protein 165g. I’ve maintained my weight so far except I recently have had some bingeing problems and put on a few pounds.

and btw, I’d really like some REAL feedback about what I need to work on!

HAPPY??!

^^^^ very

To be honest, you are by far one of the better posters in this section of the forums. That was evident after your first one or two photos. It just helps to have a general outline of your training regimen and a couple extra poses. No disrespect meant by the above.

I’m no expert or judge, and it may just be the angles of the pictures, but your shoulders seem to outweigh (for lack of a better term) your arms IMO.

Info to submit info is at the bottom.

nice glutes

I’m not even close to the level of most of the guys on this forum, but this is a quality post.

If you are used to the bodybuilding.com community, you will find that the comments and feedback on this site is a bit more acidic and elitist. However, it keeps things realistic and in perspective. It’s good that you are motivated and in good shape already, otherwise you won’t find much positive encouragement here. The noobs like myself get destroyed here.

ok soooooooo if this is such an elitist bb community and such a “quality” post… then where’s all the quality, useful replies?! let me have it people, I didn’t post to show off anything, I posted to get feedback!

You’ll get more straightforward feedback at the sister site:

I’m not in a position to give you advice myself, I’m afraid, but there are a bunch of experienced figure athletes there.

great symmetry
very lean
great abs
arms seem to be lagging a bit - not much
a little more size and definition would help
i always heard your upper arms should match your calves
very good
great job!
keep working
thank you for the opportunity to comment
i admire what you are doing - it motivates me
good luck!!!

Very lean, terrific figure.I think your arms could be a bit more defined to keep in line with the definition in your abs.Obviously you’re gorgeous, but in terms of figure competition, that’s my input!

Thanks guys.
In response to some of the posts… I believe my shoulders are way too small in comparison to my bi/tri’s! My delts are definitely lagging behind in comparison to the rest of my arms. Look at Monica Brant and Ava Cowan, then you’ll see what I mean.

As far as my arms being as round as my calves… hmmm… my calves are 16", I don’t think a figure competitor with 16" arms would go over well
I don’t htink that my arms are lagging so much as my legs aren’t leaned out enough

I agree with the definition comment wigsa

Congratulations on the progress so far, in my opinion you could work on overall thigh size, while I think upper body proportions are close, they seem to out weigh lower body size. On a side note, Holymac, what is mmf?
