No, I call you a peice of spam cause that’s what you are.

SPAM!"

And who could ever forget Ed O’neil perform “Booty Time”.

And one other movie I forgot to mention is The Mating Habits of the Earthbound Humans. Carmen Electra is in it for one thing… and well… DAMMIT WHAT MORE DOES A MOVIE NEED???

I second that on all counts.

Everytime I started that movie, everybody in the appartment or house stopped just to listen… to the whole movie.

Even the translation is excellent.

i thought reservoir dogs sucked balls

chrisr, The Thin Red Line is the worst movie that I have ever attempted to watch. It is still the only movie that I have walked out of in disgust.

Favourites
Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels
Snatch
Fight Club
Reservoir Dogs
Hercules Returns (comedy, probably never got to the US)

Bilt–

Why didn’t you like The Thin Red Line?

I think that it is one of the best war movies of all time. It doesn’t focus on the action and violence of war, but it raises bigger questions like “what is this great evil?”. If you were just “bored” because it wasn’t battle after battle ala Windtalkers or such, then you were watching it for the wrong reasons.

Lumberjak–

Reservoir Dogs was a f’d up movie. I just liked the acting in it. Harvy Kitel is a bad ass. Gotta love the scene where the dude cuts the ear off of the guy tied the chair.

Resevior Dogs wasn’t great, but it was entertaining and great dialogue.

I also just watched The Maltese Falcon for the first time and I really liked it.

SURPRISES

no one has mentioned:
Memento
HEAT
The Usual Suspects
Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind

I’m also disappointed that “Spirited Away” was dismissed as childrens Anime (I am into neither, but found the movie to be wonderfully bizarre -and one of the most original I have ever seen).

Chrisr writes:

“[The Thin Red Line] doesn’t focus on the action and violence of war, but it raises bigger questions like “what is this great evil?””

AND THEN

“Reservoir Dogs was a f’d up movie. … Gotta love the scene where the dude cuts the ear off of the guy tied the chair.”

Chrisr, with this level of artistic and moral sophistication, you can really teach Bilt a thing or two!

Actually, I like both movies too, but it’s interesting how we bring different attitudes to each, and how we might reconcile them.

I’m surprised no one has mentioned Seven Samurai.

Zatoichi is another great movie as well as Harakiri.

I`m surprised nobody mentionned a classic:

The Dirty Dozen.

I also forgot ‘The Jerk’ with Steve Martin… or pretty much any steve martin movie… but the jerk is by far his best.

I liked The Dirty Dozen, but it’s one of those movies that I don’t think I could watch more than once. But I loved Jim Brown in it.

And, The Jerk is a classic. I completely forgot about it.

David Barr-

I actually listed three of the four movies you mentioned.

Brian Smith-

The cognitive dissonance of every day life…

Deliverance
I know the sqeal like a pig jokes may come with this one, but Deliverance is a great study of what ordinary people are capable of thrown into a life and death situation.
