A diet soda every now and then? Sure.
Is it a healthy snack? No. It has absolutely no nutritional value. And that was the question. So I thought it was an odd answer.

I’m doing good with fat loss, but snacking is my final hurdle. I get so damn hungry later at night!! So, here seems to be a good list:
any advice appreciated!
Fruit. It’s hard to go past fruit.
I know I know, fructose is sugar…
But like Jim wended says, have you ever seen a fat person airlifted from their house surrounded by banana peels and apple cores? Negative.
The idea that artificial sweeteners cause cancer has been debunked for now. It was based SOLELY on the fact that aspartame yields methanol, but the amounts are minimal even compared to other foods, so we have no mechanism and no actual increase in cancer rates.
I don’t think they affect glucose metabolism directly. Sorbitol may be involved in causing glycosylation. (See pylol pathway, or sorbitol pathway) but sorbitol ends up in the body from non-artificial foods too, and natural biological processes. It is much more important to keep fructose levels down as fructose DOES back up the pylol pathway and leads to glycosylation (as in higher A1C).
The current suggestion that I think makes sense is that aspartame (as well as Ibuprophen) affect gut microflora and lead to problems associated with that-inflammation, allergenic substances crossing the gut barrier and fungal overgrowth.
I make a bottle of concentrated Mag-10 for trips. Then I dilute it, I will usually do 5 servings, unflavored in a 1 liter bottle, and mix it 1:2 with water. If I am in a period when carbs are OK, I will take Finnibars.
I may take Fage 2% greek yogurt and a bag of frozen cherries or blueberries and pistacios or almonds in a cooler for a “balanced” meal.
2 cups yogurt plus 5 ounces of frozen blueberries and 1 ounce of pistacios is about 560 calories and 52 grams of protein, about 30% carb, 33% fat, 36% protein, virtually isocaloric. Oh, plus I mix in Metabolic Drive, 1 scoop.
Homemade beef jerky
Raw almonds and bananas. They’re convenient, readily available, and relatively inexpensive.
